There were people doubting the quality of our off season signings earlier.
Burns - leading the golden boot.
Bonevacia - yep.
Rodriguez - ;)
Wee Mac - gee.
Buy a bucket hat. Some of you need to eat one.
I guess the test will be as Leggy said, now that we are beginning to settle how we and those players do against the top four teams. We have 4 losses compared to only one or none by the teams above us.
Our four losses have been to:
Perth Rnd 1 - last minute loss
Tards Rnd 4 - outplayed, but only conceded 2 and the team did not fold.
Pissants Rnd 6 - last minute loss. Fudge. Shark. Cod.
Perth Rnd 7 - never really in this game
Other than the tards we have only lost by one goal
We have yet to play the Bling.
Based on form so far (one third of the way in to the season) we thoroughly deserve 5th spot and could also be contenders for 4th.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.
Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.
Are you happy with where we sit on the table Steve-O?
Have we exceeded your expectations to date?
Are you happy with how many goals we have scored?

Nothing compared to the wholesale write-off of Krishna
If you had been paying attention, you would notice I have acknowledged as such that I appear to be looking foolish on that position in about 3 or 4 posts over the last 2 weeks. Look at the little search function in the top right hand corner. Go on.
I don't mind being wrong and can at least own it. How are you feeling about your Ernie is-the-wrong-coach-is-the-right-coach-is-the-wrong-coach-is-the-right-coach-is-the-wrong-coach-is-the-right-coach-is-the-wrong-coach position?
Grumpy old bastard alert
Steve-O: never happy unless there is something to unhappy about. No no no playing well, scoring and exceeding expections is not good, we must be unhappy about what sharkhouse player was sharkhouse and not given a fair crack.
Grumpy old bastard alert
It's sort of stupid to sit here and go 'ha, I was right about Krishna.' Until the last 3 games Krishna had looked decidedly ordinary. No one had anything against Krishna but they had genuine reasons to think he wouldn't be successful. Most of the criticism was not about Krishna per say but about whether or not he should be given the final visa spot.

My point is that perhaps we should've given Krishna a chance earlier.
This is pro-Phoenix and pro-Krishna! Maybe anti-Ricki...
So basically everything is going well in the present, so now you're delving into the past to find something to be miserable about.
Jesus....
We could win the grand final and you'd be miserable about the fact we didn't come first in the regular season.

Even his revisionist history and attempt to compare with the present is flawed as you/RR pointed out above.
He's either a troll, or a Knightz mk 2, or deeply unhappy.

See I completely disagree with this. I don't recall the games where he was poor at all. I thought the reasons most wrote him off was because we just didn't see him - Merrick pulled him out of the eleven last season when he had initially played well and looked good, and had just extended his contract. I got excited from what I saw and my opinion was set at that moment, and then he basically disappeared. Merrick has claimed that this was done because he needed to get fitter and stronger to make the jump to professional football, but just because we weren't seeing him week in week out didn't mean he'd become crap. I was waiting to see him again and now we have.
A lot of people assumed that because he wasn't being picked, he mustn't be good. I understand that and don't begrudge that opinion at all, but I do begrudge people saying he was sh*t and only got good just now, I just don't think that's true.
yeah I was actually looking forward to seeing him play this year. Thought it could be a breakout one for him. We saw glimpses that showed it last year. Having said that, it's only been a couple of (really good) games, hopefully he can deliver consistently.

So can I basically sum up this recent thread by saying; now that we can't angst over the nix it's time to start angsting about each other?

I said that Krishna had looked ordinary until 3 games ago, not that he was ordinary. If you aren't fit enough and strong enough for professional football then you will look ordinary. I just said that saying 3 weeks ago "Krishna hasn't played well this season" was a fair comment and one which was based on fair observations. I don't think anyone said Krishna will never make it in the A-League or that he is a crap player.
I also don't know anyone on here who ever said Krishna isn't being picked therefore he can't be good. What people did say is "Krishna isn't being picked. Why did we use an import spot on a striker who can barely crack the first XI when our main striker has scored like 5 times in 40 games? We should have signed someone better." I think that was a fair question to ask then and it seems now we have got our answer.

And that supports what I am saying quite nicely - Krishna's first start of the season was 3 games before yesterday.

Yes Kriahna has played well in the last three games. Not quite willing to call him the Fijian Figo yet though.
Who remembers his touch yesterday when basically one on one with the keeper? Who did not call him a donkey at that moment?
And to say He should have been signed earlier? Really? Perhaps he was just not good enough then? Perhaps his attitude was shark? Who knows but there is fark all point grizzling about it unless and I suspect this is the case you just want another reason to put the boot onto Ricki

Really? How many games has Krishna actually started? I personally thought he did fine when given the opportunity last year. But he seemed to be relegated to being a benchman for the most part. Whilst Brockie was starting too. Cant say I, surprised at all with Krishna.

We play them in two weeks too. Could be there for the taking if they play like they did against Perth.
Be interested in people's thoughts on how many points people think we would have had by now. For me, would have expected to beat Perth and draw with WSW at home. And draw with one of CCM or Jets away. So for me, we are probably a couple of points ahead of where I thought we'd be.

People like Coldplay and voted for the Nazis. You can't trust people.
I concur with the above statement. My thoughts are that we have actually won matches this season that in previous editions we would have been happy to settle for a share of the points.
Previous seasons have seen us have on average 3 draws after 9 matches and we currently have none this campaign.

Perhaps also now we are a third of the way through how do people think we will continue?
Will Perth fall away, will Citeh or Roar gain their mojo and kick on at our expense?
Barring injuries I think we will claim 4th (Bling match will be a good indicator) and may even challenge for 3rd if Perth or Adelaide slip up. Can't see the Tards losing ground however.

I'd be surprised if Victory and Adelaide aren't the top two. Perth continue to surprise me. They don't play particularly sexy football, but are grinding out one goal victories. Hersi out for the season will damage them, but guess that have Sidnei back.
Hard to see us not making the 6 given how many bad teams there are at the moment. But 4th is essential to get past the first week of the playoffs.
