According to a source which has been reliable on many occasions for me in the Rojas saga this is what is happening:

Rodi wants Rojas to move to MV because of the uncertainty of Wellington Phoenix's financial situation. The deal was about to be penned when it got into the newspaper. Rojas saw the reaction of the YF and the general footballing community and is now hesitating to sign the contract. Rodi is still pushing him to sign.

I have no idea if this is correct or not but it sounds pretty plausible to me.

About as plasuible as the other rubbish written on here

I am now thinking he definitely should go, to secure his future next season. It looks increasingly dodgy here having read the articles on WGA

Isn't the loan supposed to come through mid march? If he wanted to stay he can easily wait that long. If Victory are interested in him now they still will be in a few days.

He's already staked that on the ACL. You'll have to put up his right one.

I think we need to start a Marco chant.

MARCO MARCO MARCO MARCO.

Stay pls.

We think we've already lost you
We think you're already gone
We think we're finally scared now
You think We're weak - but we think you're wrong
We think you're already leaving
Feels like your hand is on the door
We thought this place was an empire
But now we're relaxed - we can't be sure

We think you're so mean - we think we should try
we think you could need - us in your life
we think we're just scared - we think too much
You know this is wrong it's a problem we're dealing

If you're gone - Marco it's time to come home
There's an awful lot of standing room
But we can hardly move
You know it's wrong - Marco you need to stay home
There's a black and yellow stripey
waiting here for you

We bet you're hard to replace
we bet the pitch just won't shine
We bet our hands you can stay here
We bet you need us - more than you mind

We think you're so mean - we think we should try
We think you could need - us in your life
we think we're just scared - that we know too much
We can't relate and that's a problem we're feeling

If you're gone - Marco it's time to come home
There's an awful lot of standing room
But we can hardly move
you know its wrong - Marco you need to stay home
Theres a black and yellow stripey
waiting here for you

So, Marco didn't think there would any backlash from Phoenix supporters then? He thought we'd all club together and buy him a leaving present? Hmm......

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

If Threak's statement is correct, then Nathan Greenham knew precisely what he was doing when he told the SST that Marco was gone. Applause.

Interesting interview with Dave Edmundson just now on Radio Sport. In response to a question he ummed and ahhed for a while to think of the best way to put it, then basically said that Rodi was an assisstant coach for Waikato FC for about 2 weeks, then had to be let go because he was to involved with Marco to the detriment of the team.

sound sot me like Rodi is driving the marco career train in the direct Rodi wants to go....All this speculation about us losing good player due to the financial insecurity seems like a poor excuse, at the end of the day any one of the a-league franchises could fold. Hell the a-league itself could fall over so surely an off shore contract would be of more interest? fgoing to melbourne makes little to no sense to anyone except Rodi!

Dodgy dodgy dodgy. This is what happens when someone with no player management experience gets way out of his depth. Bits and pieces all over the media, rumours etc. Not a good look really.

Posted this in the 'Santander' thread, but just realised it might have been more appropriate in here:

It's interesting. Call me cynical but I fail to believe that, at the start of last season, people in and around the Fury didn't know that their club was in big financial trouble and in real danger of going tits up. It didn't seem to stop some decent players putting pen to paper with them

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Well look he just loves his son. Perhaps it can get misplaced but at the end of the day it's just their dynamic (marco and rodi) and we have to accept it even if a proper player agent would be better. thats for Marco to figure out eventually.

that's if Rodi allows a proper player manager on board - I think you'll find that there will have to be an almighty split between father and son before someone new gets to negotiate for marco.

Not necessarily. He's only 19. He's going to grow up and look after his own sh*t. They all do.

Marco's on the Red team at the charity basketball match tonight.

Perhaps the Fever need to be there in force with some chants, banners, and home baking for the kid.

I would hope that people would have the brains to realise that it's not the time or place to venting their anger about the transfer saga.

I would hope that if anyone tried anything really stupid they would be blanked and made to look like the complete moronic embarrassments that they are,as I have said before it's next season at the ROF when we  let young Marco know about the great mistake he has made !

Yeah Stevo, that's what I was thinking too. Perhaps we are wrong but it is a genuine fear. The young fella would be better off getting a professional agent. This could split the family and if Rodi is not a contract specialist or has some sort of legal background, Marco could get fleeced or career stall which is not what anyone wants. Yep, because Australia and New Zealand are just teeming with credible and experienced professional football agents.
