I kind of took it as advertising. Creating a whole new thread with a provocative title telling people to listen to your show.
yeah okay ill agree - but the headline wasnt at all misleading about what daniel said.
if he had posted the link in this thread, and hadnt phrased it as their website exclusive then I guess it wouldnt be advertising?
And the players mentioned may leave because they want to go back to AU and not stay here in NZ.
I don't think he says anything that's a revelation or we did not know/suspect already.
But what he actually said was, the players were unhappy (could be at anything, including performance - we didn't hear the question). Then mentioned the owners want a new style and will bring new players in. Some players will be replaced.
If you take the question of it, that has nothing to do with those 3 being unhappy at the owners and leading a player exodus.
I'd like to add, in that other interview posted, you do not hear them ask the first question. Clearly it is misleading and theyve done this to make it sound like a player exodus at the end of the season because of the owners. They play every other question and they match up. Suspicious much?
Listening to it again, Daniel in no way said the players will leave because of the owners.
Had all of this mornings EPL results spoiled for me while finding this out by the way! So if you're planning on watching those tonight, skip the first minute or so.
Allegedly
Let's cut Gareth some slack, guys. Stop complaining, He's fronted up and put his money into our club.
Just because he knows bugger all about football but makes broad, sweeping statements about how it should and shouldn't be played is no reason to say nasty things about him
Just because he labels fans as pathetic and unsophisticated, and questions their knowlede of the game, is no reason to say nasty things about him.
Just because he wants results but doesn't appear to want to spend on strengthening the team is no reason to say nasty things abouit him.
Just because the marketing of the club and games seems to be non-existent is no reason to say nasty things about him.
Supporters daring to say less than complimentary things about the man at the top? Disgraceful! Who do they think they are. Ungrateful swines.
Sadly, yes. I posted an article on Facebook recently about my first love Partick Thistle. On the bones of their arse, got a new board of directors and a new Chairman. A group of people who, by their own admission, knew bugger all about football. The new board had a long term plan, the club was leaking money and losing fans, previous board members and chairmen had been villified and even despised by the fans. That sound familiar?
Now, we have a great chance of winning promotion back to the SPL, the Club has forged strong links with the fans and the local community, crowds are up. Things are looking good. It can be done, but the people at the top have to acknowledge their limitations and listen to people who know more about football than they do. No-one is arguing with what Gareth and the other 8 want to achieve, but when he screws up publicly, then he deserves to be criticised for it.
Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Grumpy old bastard alert
was it really an "illegal thread"
i dont think so.
just didnt follow forum rules of putting it in an existing thread...
may be a slight overeaction from you guys
Also radiosport advertised it as Daniel saying players will leave at end of season
I put those there so peeps can listen to player interviews. I haven't got anything to gain. Sorry if it annoys people.

Yellow Fever - Misery loves company
it doesnt annoy me at all - i love your work.
was just wondering whats the difference between that and the other guy who posted a link to his site.

There's some good stuff in those radio segments, with a range of opinions.
Good to hear Daniel give a big shout out to Yellow Fever, but the rest of it come off like a bit of a whinge to me.
I thought Ian Smith made some good comments at the end of Daniel's interview about Kiwis not really being used to the private ownership model and players and fans needing to remember who's actually paying the wages. Yes, Gareth could have chosen his words more carefully but the change of style is still a good decision and his message about being patient is the right one. As Ian Smith basically said, we don't have a divine right to win the A-League. Teams have their ups and downs and no matter how well you set yourself up (or think you have) shit can go wrong.
Noah Hickey talked a lot of sense too.

If george had posted the exact same link and text but in the correct thread, i dont think any of you would have blinked.
I thought you were over it?

What a fantastic thread! Who would have thought we could get over 5,000 posts over something like this...

And this isn't even the full thread! The old thread got shut down half way through a Smithy vs John Dow cage fight. See page 1 for the immediate aftermath - still one of my favourite ever forum moments.

Dow was gonna sue us but he got a cushy gig working for Cnr Morrison so he dropped it (may not be true)

That and the now dead transfer thread. Two best Forum threads EVER

Mr Feverish, it was your decision, in your capacity asYellow Leader, to delete the earlier thread conversation between Mr. Smith and myself. I was quite enjoying the interaction and had no intention of suing, despite the flagrantly false and inaccurate comments being made. The "Cushy Gig" you refer to was a contract to assist Councillor Morrison establish a set of Artificial Football pitches for Wellington City. We successfully secured the resources and support for 7 to be created. Wakefield Park x 2, Wellington College x 1 having since been built and St Pats College with construction now underway with 3 more to come. I have heard rumours that even yourself have commented favourably on these new football assets. I can assure you this project wasn't "Cushy" in any way at all. John Dow

Not too shabby at all.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

So confusing.
So media saying we changed our style mid season.
Welnix/Ricki saying we changed our style in the off season.
Players saying we changed our style mid season.
Leo Bertos said: "We started off [the season] so well and made a few changes and tried a few different things and it sort of came back to bite us on the butt a wee bit.
"We tried to change a little bit of style to how we played and obviously results weren't coming that way."
