Interesting patrick - Vincent gets a card every 3 games. Like I said, he's comfiest in the lone DM role, and yes I'm very happy to agree he had one of his better games last week. But in the final analysis, he honks like a field of geese.

id love to see mckain back... but would he come back?
In what position do you see mckain, last night he got owned by zenon, have you been watching Adelaide ?

I don't think he got 'owned' by Caravella at all. In his role just in front of the defence, he was able to pick out pinpoint passes right into the attacking third on multiple occasions, something that we are lacking in right now. He also made some crucial tackles, so I'm not sure how you think he got 'owned'.

yea i didnt think he had a bad game, and id play him either next to dura or in the DM role... assuming the next gaffer employs one.
Lets get John McKain back. He is off contract at the end of the season and afaik hasn't re-signed yet. He has been fantastic at DM the last few weeks, even tho he prefers CB. Would provide cover for Siggy & Dura.
I'd prefer a 24yo McKain than another player beyond 30.
"Vincent gets a card every 3 games". - That's his a league average per 90 minutes. Not his last 23 "appearances" some of which where not full games as he made his way back from injury, was subbed early etc etc. Patrick "you knew that right?
Id take Mc Kain in flash, He's in tre good form at the moment.
Are you judging Vinnie based on what he did two, three, four seasons ago? Based on that logic, Ifill is one of the best imports in the league at the moment, and Liam Reddy is a fantastic keeper.
And if you are going to convert into minutes played, it would have been much clearer what you meant if you had said 'one card every 270 minutes', rather than 'one card every three games'.
Sorry I should quantify my comments re mckain, I've watched Caravella since he was with the knights and have thought he can be pushed off the ball. Especially in the first half McKain was unable to get close to Zenon and knock him off the ball. I've seen mckain play a couple of times this season and have felt that age is starting to tell on the physical side of his game.
Whether he is in the right position at this stage of his career is another point.

Cernak - worth holding onto? He's decent but not too bothered either way.
Midfield to choose from McKain, Miller, Cernak, and Hernandez would suit me very nicely.

Based on what? McKain has spent most of the season unable to break into a backline including Boogard and Golec and has recently got back in in midfiled. That doesn't strike me as someone able to waltz in and force a starting A-League centre-back out. Particularly one he struggled to push out when he last played here.
I think the silliest thing McKain did was leave the Phoenix. From there, it all started going backwards. As to whether I would want him back, whats he 30-31? On a 2 year deal makes him 32-33. Same age as Sigmund right? How about a replacement plan....
Grumpy old bastard alert
He will be 31 in September.
He has played bloody well for Adelaide in recent weeks as a Defensive Midfielder. He has good vision and can certainly pass a ball. I would not see him as a replacement for Siggy. Cover for him yes, but primarliy in a DM role. Not an import and pretty effective in that role and does not seem to be many Aussies available or Kiwis good enough at the moment.

Chuckywolf was and thats kinda where I was angling at.
As a DM... He never worked out there for us but can't remember why. Thats when Sigmund got his 3 week ban for girlie slapping Leijer that McKain came in and they locked it up.
A 1+1 deal to see how he goes?

Siggy three years ago when McKain was here, is a very different player to the Siggy we now have and all (well almost all) love. He was very much a raw talent, in only his 2nd? A league season and he has gone on to become one of the most solid and reliable CB pairings in the league with Dura. Sure this year has not been great, and he does ocassionally have a tendancy to get caught out of position trying to close someone down, but in my view that is probably a reflection of the problems we have encountered in midfield rather than Siggy totally loosing the plot. In a poor year for us, he has been one of our best overall this season.
agree, paioring siggy with Dura has seen the sig-monster's career bloom - this season's odd form and rash decisions for mine seems based around the change in style and siggy basically losing focus on his job.
Queenslander 3x a year.
disagree on him being one of our best this year... he was often the reason we let attackers get in behind when he pushed forward unneccessarily.
I tend to agree that he may have been the final reason, the most visible, but how often was it that he was trying unsuccesfully to plug the gaping hole that has been our midfield.

historically that might have been true, siggy of last season compared to McKain is a closer debate.

Not convinced about that either. Like I said, I think we tend to overrate Siggy a bit on this forum.
