Dura and Siggy - North as backup for me please.

Just look at their record and North seems significantly better. I'd back North in a foot race over Siggy too, which has been a problem for the latter against quicker forwards in the past. That was my point.

If Ricki does play 3 at the back I hope Leo is still able to bring the magic pushing forward, unlike in SA where he was continually having to drop back.(not his fault at all imo)

I don't see North as a like for like replacement for McKain

Mckain and Dura where a classic centreback combo imo

from memory North and Dura are quite similar in style

if we get him it'll be interesting to see how Ricki sets up the defence

Yeah - was thinking that too. Very similar players - both played right back a few times, like to make forward runs and are also not that tall.

You gotta remember Newcastle did also have Adam Griffiths at Centre Back. So it might not of always been Dura and Jade. For example in the grand final Jade was injured. But in saying that I do think they will be great if Jade sign.

I really don't want 343 for the nix. The Mac/greeny combo seems to be working a treat with a 442 and Bertos looks really willing to attack but will also defend. It also lets us adjust to the 451 with toto in behind the striker which seemed to work.

for me, if North Signed then i would play this line up against GCU:

Muscat North Durante Lochhead             ||         Hearfield
             Brown   Lia                             ||         Daniel
  Bertos                        Ifill                   ||         Toto

Could start manny instead of Lia and have Hearfield start too. Could have siggy on the bench?

But that leaves us with heaps of room tactically to bring on impact players.

That 4-4-2 you speak of was really a 4-2-3-1 against Boca, with Greenie playing in the hole, Bertos as a winger and Ifill as something of an inside-forward (Muscat's forward runs were when Ifill cut inside).

Also, if he wants to play 3 at the back, then for me, we are gonna have to sign another back as just Musa is not nearly enough cover

North is an adequate defender but he is overrated. I have seen this guy make some terrible mistakes (two howlers in one game against Melbourne stick in the memory). Siggy may not be the fastest thing on two legs but he is extremely reliable and makes very few errors. As a defender he easily outshone North in 2008-09.

Woops yeah was thinking back to finals when we had bigger bench. Hmm I don't like having a CB on the bench. If we have muscat on the pitch then he could do the job. Would rather have impact attacking players.

And BamBam hasnt signed or even trialled, if he does sign then I guess we'd expect him to be ahead of Pav?

So who is our current AW yet to be signed?

Was probably Vicelich and fell through.

Maybe it was Aaron Clapham ...? Surely he is much better than Michael Ferrante but need higher brand of football.

Yep, Muscat can cover CB as well I do believe. If absolutely needed.
