Viduka: old, lame and not very good. Anyway I heard he has been linked with Fulham.

Just a day dream, He's just retired from football and says he's not going to play any more, but OMG how awesome would he be as a marquee for the Nix? He's 36 but reading around sounds like he still had plenty in the tank for the last season. Be frickin awesome....oh well back to reality :)

I think I read on SBS website yesterday that a UAE club is talking to him and that it is "almost done". I suspect they could pay him a fair bit more than we could...

Speculation on CCM forum that Caceres is coming here...another midfielder??

Strange... but interesting he wouldn't be a bad signing.

Wasn't Cassio supposed to come here after walking out on Adelaide United too? Hmm.

Wouldn't be a bad thing for us though if it were true.

Caceres is good in spurts. Very, very inconsistant however and not a first 11 player.

I'd rather not take Carceras, we have enough with Marco, Costa, Diego Daniel and Super Leo.

For me he would be similar to those players except Super Leo is consistent.

Rumour first started doing the rounds about a week or so ago over this side of the Tasman. Have it from a reasonably credible sauce. Rumour has some legs...

Not sure we need him. I think that if we are looking to sign someone it should be a versatile defender.

yeah not really interested imo. I thought we'd want more cover in defence aswell. never know though he could be gold for us. meh we've got enough spots that we could still have him just for the sake of it.

Keep in mind we have a series of All Whites fixtures looming...

Would provide ideal cover in the Midfield...

I'd think we could use some defensive cover when Sigmund and Lochhead are gone...

It'd put Daniel even further down the order, he'd be lucky to make the bench surely.

Sign some fullbacks. Sign Traore.
I like tautologies because I like them.

Only midfielder I want to see is Fred! Or maybe Viera?
Only some one who would definitely start in our line up should be signed from now. We dont need no more squad players

Commentators yesterday were suggesting that Caceres had some injury concerns. From what I've seen of him he can be brilliant or frustratingly ordinary, somewhat like Daniel and Diego in fact.

Mind you, if he plays like this I won't be complaining.

On todays showing against Sydney its clear that we need a central midfielder that can hold the ball and currently we dont have one...in fact most of our "midfield" went missing in the second half

I agree, maybe Diego will come right with match fitness, but both Brown and Ferrante aren't up to the job, Lia needs to be in there but it's that central playmaker position where we have been lacking ever since Felipe left (other than Fred's little stint).

You know we belong together...

If we got Fred on loan again I think I'd get a whole lot more excited about our playoff chances.

im pretty sure we will still make the playoffs... we didnt play that bad today, still played a good style of football and created chances however Sydney were better

Rubbish. We were dreadful in the second half.

- We barely completed two passes
- We repeatedly launched the ball to nowhere
- They lost McFlynn the only defensive midfielder they had and played the likes of Gan and Corica in there and we got nohting yet we had McKain, Lia and Ferrante out there.

It was spineless and dreadful and how we can go from fluid attacking like last week to the most dreadful hoofball and non-existant mdifield I think I have ever seen from the Phoenix makes me despair.

Just awful, f**king awful

Struggling to disagree with anything you've said.

I found myself shouting at Ferrante and McKain to move and make themselves available but often they would just jog and dare I say it not want the ball and without a route through midfield we resorted to hoofing it.

Don't think RH's tactics helped and we seemed to be under instructions to sit back and hope for a draw in that second half.

The Caceres rumour is just that - rumour. Read the Mariners forum and someone mentioned it as an off the cuff comment.

I've yet to see a link where its been a major talking point. To me, its all false

Another attacking mid that Ricki will put on the bench behind Ferrante?  Just what we need.
