WPM R3 vs Auckland FC | Sat 2nd Nov | 5pm | RoF / Sky Sports 2 | March 4pm
Haven't been to Welly for awhile, but from the outside what I read is there will be broken pipes and open sewers to navigate as well, no? Closed shoes required.
booing is purely pantomime. We are doing it to professional sportspeople who are mentally very strong so it has no actual impact but it weirdly fun to do and it does help to create an atmosphere.
At the end of the day, no Phoenix supporter will want anything but the best for Paulson, because he came through our system into our first team, and those players are especially cherished by fans.
For 2 hours on Saturday though, he is the enemy (for want of a better word) and should be treated as such. At the end of the game I am sure he will give a wave to the Fever Zone and get a very generous response back. Then he can fly back to Auckland, reflecting on his team's first loss of the season.
All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

Watch out Tory W - Frankie M's coming for ya.
Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days
Bet however he won’t remember saying that when it happens.
He should be counting his lucky stars that AFC came along.

They've been pretty open about how they've tried many things to get bigger crowds throughout the years and nothing has really worked - So I don't think they are trying to deny that AFC is helpful for the club to be more profitable (or to break even) - if anything the club's heavy marketing for this match shows they think this is a great opportunity.
That's just how I see it though and I very much could be proved wrong in time.

Of course they are playing it up.
Over time it will become a real derby with a story to it.
Anything to sell seats at this point. I think it's great they are in the league. If it brings more people in... then let's go.
From a distance, in a general direction of Bombay Hills, he can hear a faint sound that may well be compared to a noise of the infamous Iron Dome in action: ".... and they've kidnapped our goalkeeper, too...."

WELLINGTON WEAR YOUR YELLOW 🟡🟡🟡
— Wellington Phoenix 🔥 (@WgtnPhoenixFC) October 30, 2024
Nix players will be around Lampton Quay and the Wellington Station from 4.30-5.30PM tomorrow (Thursday) with free tickets to the NZ derby this Saturday for people wearing yellow! Come meet the team and be into win!
Keep an eye on the socials… pic.twitter.com/lXW9pJ4C6Z
Lampton Quay? The new Social media person must not be a local.

Lol, I knew I wouldn't be the only one who saw that.
Can guarantee it's going to be a fearmongering nonsense hit-piece and a ball hasn't even been kicked! Just out to tarnish what should be a brilliant day for New Zealand football...
Just ex-pat wankers and braindead young lads who don’t understand the football culture we’ve built in this country.
They haven’t really tried playing exciting attacking football for 90 minutes.
It’s a long way to go to watch 80 minutes of dull.
Threatening to keep turning up long enough to keep the club in existence for more than a handful of years?

If true that's disappointing, and should be nipped in the bud straight away. Both clubs could maybe mention life bans for anyone attempting any of that shark either in or outside the ground. Red Badge to be briefed.
Was at the Nix v Roar game at Suncorp last year, and there was a drunk young loud Glaswegian in a Nix top, getting a bit mouthy. So yeah maybe there are some UK expats in the 09 trying to bring a bit of that rubbish to football in Aotearoa.

I agreed with you entirely until you mentioned Red Badge. Half of them are scared of their own shadow. It's only because 99% of Nix fans are not interested in stupidity that there are no issues. In the past visiting fans from other clubs have built a good repore with YF and others. Drink together, enjoy the game and perhaps bragging rights until the next game.
I really hope both sets enter into the fun spirit of the game. And as you suggested, both clubs drop the hammer on any village idiots.

Ramming liberal dribble down your throat since 2009
This forum needs less angst and more Kate Bush threads
There will be north of 20k.
Of course there will be an increased police presence by that alone.
Expat wankers? I’m assuming you mean Brits and not other nationalities? Seriously how many hard nut Brits do you see in NZ?
Slow news day.
Auckland will rise once more
There is a "fake" animosity that seems to be happening that some people are making real, that is much worse on Facebook and Twitter. Some seeming to think there is some massive rivalry now like El Clasico and The Old Firm, it is just likely to be some keyboard warriors that have been talking up what they are going to do but when it came to it on game day, nothing would have happened.
Unfortunately (or fortunately) this started coming out a couple of days back, clubs were aware but seems the news was too. Which is why we now have the story tonight on 1 News and on the website. https://www.1news.co.nz/2024/10/30/nzs-maiden-a-league-derby-marred-by-threats-of-fan-violence/
Both clubs and supporter groups have come out against anyone being stupid and if anyone were to try it from the Fever, we will quite happily point them out to the police in the stands.

Three for me, and two for them.
