Huth was slow... always liked Taylor, seemed hard nosed!

He was the one too that took the shovel off one of the groundsmen cause he was going too slow, and shoveled the snow himself, during a game for Posh last season.

Cool, maybe he will come and take the flag off the yellow fever if we are not waving it enthusiastically enough too

According to Phillip Rollo, the four guys training with the club atm are Elliot, Sinclair, Gulley and De Jong.

If he signs here and starts looking for Newcastle's results first he might get confused!

I'm assuming they have all gone as well, but asked Voerman and Rollo to try confirm with the club that Rufer, Galloway, Italiano, Rogerson, Mullen, McGarry and Patterson have all gone.

Last I heard from my close Rufer source was after the All Whites trip he was on a few weeks ago, was hoping to get a Phoenix contract.

Haven't been in touch since to hear the current goings on, but the new boss may be checking other people out, working out who he rates as the best NZers are before looking to the likes of Rufer.

Possible they all may be out the window, but I wouldn't assume that.

Peterborough actually just signed a pretty decent young box to box midfielder off Dundee, my pre-Phoenix team. They are looking an ambitious club keen for promotion that are reshaping their squad.

Him being discarded only means they don't rate him to do 40 games again to win promotion and through playoffs etc. Probably correct, but probably still a good League One defender, and hopefully also an ace A-League defender.

He was playing Premier League football only 2 seasons ago, played almost 200 games in the English top flight and he's only 32. Form is temporary and class is permanent of course, and despite a dodgy time at Portland, you'd think he would still be a top Championship defender but he probably know's his body wouldn't last one of their ridiculous seasons. A massive coupe for the Nix if we pull this off.

Interestingly he had Jake Gleeson organising his defensive efforts from goal, for his 9 games there at the Timbers.

Damn, judging from all the replies to that tweet, that’s an understatement. If he’s half as good as the Posh fans make him out to be, we’ve got a real gem

I'm loving this. Taylor was one of those centre-backs who was often talked about as an England international, but he never quite got a cap. I know he did sit on the bench for England at least once without getting on the pitch.

It has been acknowledged that pace has never been his greatest asset, but his know-how, passion and experience will be invaluable.

Exciting stuff. Hope he plays up here against Wairarapa next week.

Nix, Leyton Orient and Alloa Athletic supporting schmuck.

This. Would have played a whole lot more games for Newcastle (and probably England) if it wasn't for some terrible luck with injuries. Always came across as a natural leader which is exactly what our backline (and team) needs.

Wait am I missing something here? Swaziland is the one in Southern Africa, Switzerland is the one in Europe, though it's not a Scandinavian country.
