Was - Phoenix Transfer Speculation (Part 1)

My biggest concern is that we haven't re-signed anyone. A few months ago they were talking of three or four players re-signing over the next few weeks. That was a while ago now. Have those talks fallen over? Because, I do believe clubs can negotiate with off contract players now. And we have something like 17 players off contract at the end of the season!

Re-sign all bar Toto, MacAllister, Hearfield, Crowther, Diego.

From other teams sign: Mathew Leckie (worth a shot - we offer more than Borussia Monchengladbach), Djite, McGlinchey.

+ several non A-League players and possibly Clapham and Killen for the Chinese off-season.  Sorted.  If only money grew on trees.

I say sign up a three-pronged attack of Kruse, Griffiths and Nicholls. You know it makes sense.

Patrick Zwaanswijk - Best defender in the league imo

Get rid of Ward, Diego, Mac, Hearfield, Vuko, North - sign Zwaanswijk , Sibon, Dugandzic, Cassio and sign a keeper more suited to a bench role

Has been terrific for the Heart - a team that hasn't even had a full season together- and can play that no.10 role as well as filling in up front. Would be perfect.

Have been to a couple of Heart games and he's been the best on the pitch easily. Some of the passes he plays through are great. No players we have right now can do that except for maybe Ifill every now and then.valeo2010-11-17 22:01:23

Wonder how Angulo would go in our side? I havnt seen enough of him, but early games i saw of him, i thought he showed initiative through the center of the park which is something we need..

Also, Barisic of GCU interests me. He played well for them last season when called upon, but i havnt seen hm this year.

Really ?

Sibon will be 27 before next season starts, he's hardly the future of the club.
Angulo epitomises the word lightweight.
Barisic = Pav.

37?

And Sibon, Zwan, and Cassio = one too many imports.

And Dugandzic. Oh just no.

I would much prefer Danny Allsopp.

All of the best players in the league - Ifill, Hernandez, Broich - are in that age bracket. Don't see your point. He could easily have another 5 years in him - he doesn't rely on pace.

Dugandzic is a bit of an iffy one - I'd just have him as a replacement for Hearfield. He would count as youth, no?

And if we get rid of Diego and Toto wouldn't we have 3 import spots left? Doesn't Daniel count as a Kiwi now?

Ah thought he was older but not that much older - HN typed it wrong. Fair enough. Still think that a one legged Sibon would do a better job than Macvaleo2010-11-17 22:09:21

And Chris Payne wouldn't be a bad option. As long as he's youth. I know he did the handball thing but he's a handy player. ()

Nah, he'll be 22 next season.

I thought Daniel was import till 2012...

I wouldn't mind a lightweight midfield. although i guess brisbane and central coast have one and theyre not really performing this season i guess?

There is a difference between small and lightweight.  Murdocca and McKay are small but would never back down from a tackle or an encounter.  Angulo is just a bit soft.  If a game get's tough he disappears.

Would love some of these additions + the resigning of Ward.

Andre Killian
Chris Killen
Michael McGlinchey
Aaron Clapham
Chris Payne
Patrick Zwaansijk
Joel Griffiths
Rory Fallon

I can't believe we are not playing Vukovic, and Sigmund seems to be rated higher than North. Id want them both, but look destined to leave. Can't imagine them wanting to stay.

Get rid of Diego, Toto and Bigmac.
