Haha yeah the King will always be the King but £75m for Carroll, Downing and Hendo probably wasn't a career highlight!

Guardian says this morning that Suarez has apologised to the team and resumed training with the senior squad. Win!

I know the feeling mate! Every time we miss a shot in the last quarter of a game I start to think "here we go again", and I was getting nervous today, but Simon Mignolet you are a legend. Welcome to Anfield!

Good result. Sturridge can be as good as he wants to be if he can stay injury-free. Made up for Mignolet as well. Heroic competitive debut.

Aston Villa away next. Won't be easy.

I know its early days but how good is Coutinho!? legend in the making, if we don't get close to Champs league I can see a Torres/Suarez type saga happening

Good piece on Coutinho on ESPC FC today. The kid is a wizard!

Coutinho is brilliant. We simply have to keep him around. And to do that, we need to be playing in the Champion's League.

Diego Costa scored twice for Atleti this morning, by the way... What a player.

Do we believe the Suarez saga has been resolved? I won't be satisfied until 2 September but it is looking like he will stay again, which is great news....have  a few months before it kicks of in January transfer window

Just heard that it took us 5 games to get 3 points last year, after 6 games we were on 6 points. So good to get the points in the bag early

I must say it does feel rather nice to not be the team frantically scrambling for cover before the end of the transfer window this year. Arsenal is in mayhem, Everton are fuming and still facing the prospect of being gutted by Moyes, and Tottenham are still facing the prospect of losing the player who has essentially carried them single-handedly the last two seasons. Admittedly we are still in a similar situation to Tottenham (including being reasonably confident in the cover we have available if our key player leaves).

But after the last few transfer windows, mostly full of frustration, it's nice to feel as though we're on slightly more solid ground this time around.

Hopefully we're safely nestled in the top four come January and all this Suarez stuff goes away.

And we only got one point against Stoke last season so that's a bonus (thank you Mignolet).

We've bought a few squad players in, who now look like they're going to be starting. Kolo Toure, I'm sure, was brought in as experienced cover, he's now our starting CB. Iago Aspas is a starting player for us. Any quality players we were in for, we've missed out on, with Willian going to Spurs, Mkhitaryan going to Dortmund, and Costa staying at Atleti.

We will be nowhere near the likes of Spurs and even Arsenal by the end of the year, sad to say.

I'm not so sure we will be far off Arsenal.....Spurs probably

My previous post was super-optimistic/almost joking.

Got the Willian news from a Spurs mate via text this morning, now that's a shark way to start the day! Erik Lamela or bust at this point.

Turan? I wonder if the team have someone lined up who the media hasn't picked up on? Hope so!

Yeah a quality surprise signing or 3 would be nice though these things seldom happen.

Arsenal after him as well yeah so he'll probably end up somewhere completely different :)

Aly Cissokho on loan.

Dammit El Cholo way to dampen my baseless optimism right as I was at the peak of my Scouse boom-bust cycle!

Same here .... I'm very happy having Kolo starting every weekend he played wicked on the weekend along with Aspas .
Still over a week left in the transfer window we can still get that big name player . haha

I did read the rumours forums last night saying that their is real interest in Hughes... I can't help but wonder if he is another Jonjo Shelvey who might miss out at Liverpool and probably do very well somewhere else.

Also read that Willian was more keen to come to Liverpool but Spurs bid more and we wouldn't match the bid. The good news with this is that he was keen to come which goes against some of what we have been talking about.  Hopefully some players are still keen to come...Turan has spent years trying to get to Liverpool!

Good result at the weekend. We were great for the first half hour. Thought we defended well for the rest of the game.

Notts County in the cup next. Still think we need a couple of additions to our squad.

Agree....Ugly win better than a classy loss anyday. It took us 7 game sto get to 6 points last year so things are looking good.

Hope we sign a couple more. Heard we are looking at Ayew? From Marsaille. Also read on the rumours site that Suarez has told the club he will stay this year and leave at the end of the season. Hope this is true as at the end of the day, he is a great player

Sounds like Madrid will come in this week for Suarez (forgetting my post above!) Here we go again. Hope he stays though

3 injuries today....Toure, Allen and Cissokho. Most gutted about Toure before the big game on the weekend. Cissokho looked wrecked when he was subbed

Costly win, only got united coming up.  Toure has been one of our best players so far this season.

Yes, losing Kolo is a huge blow. He's been brilliant. Skrtel apparently will be back to face RVP. That should be fun.

Nice to get through, but the job should've been done at 2-0. Didn't really need an extra half hour. Hopefully gives them a wake-up call before the United game. Sturridge is great, can be as good as he wants to be.

SIGN SOME GOOD PLAYERS. Spurs have just signed Lamela and in talks with Eriksen. Sharke, that.

ESPN FC reporting rumours that we are looking at getting Torres back. What a story that would be. Cold day in hell before that happens, or is he the prodigal son?

Yeah I've heard that rumour as well.  Undecided.  In for Sakho and Yarmolenko and .............shay given?  Go figure.

Last chance saloon for a "marquee" signing.  I'm looking at the spurs squad with some envy atm.  They've sold elvis and bought the beatles!
