kuyt with the last 6-3 aqua pulling the strings for the 2nd half.

Interesting to see Henry's tweet during the game complete with Aqua being spelt wrong!

JOHN W HENRY-One missing link last year: Acquilani. Put the ball near Ngog and the goal and it's going in. Too much talk of them somewhere else.

Aqua rocked that second half! It still astounds me he was sent on loan... I just hope Kenny shows him some love and convinces him to stay.

Charlie was good too, you could see him targeting Carroll but the big unit was a bit off in the first half.

Great to see Insua too, with him and Aqua back it's practically two more signings.

To be fair I thought Cole put in some good work, he seemed to be everywhere trying to make things happen. Meireles on the other hand was a bit meh. Obviously out of position but things not really ticking over for him.

Lots of goals both ends - 6 conceded in two games against League 1 level oppo isn't a great sign - especially when defence was weak point last season and it doesn't look like it's been rectified.

That Conor Coady is pretty big for a young lad.

I'm sorry but these white away shirts are dreadful.

They have to be a nod to the Sponsor, surely...
over 14 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Might as well have 'Chang' on the front....why would Liverpool put blue anywhere on their strip!
over 14 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
they're nice shirts, just not right for liverpool thats all, imo anyway. reminds me to much of man city or something

Man I hope that Kenny can convince Aquaman to stay. I think he will be amazing in our team. Didn't Comolli say that there will be no more strategic signings but they might re assess later? I wonder if that means that if we play well we may not sign anyone else? Just thoughts

So if Insua is considered one that is going to leave, we have no left backs.

But Jack Robinson has been said to be the future England left back and Glen Johnson has been ok there.

Surely if insua was going to be sold he wouldn't have gone on the pre season tour? Kenny could try out some other options instead?

Bruna gone to blackpool, bit of a shame he was ment to be highly regarded. Good luck to him and I hope we have a buy back clause in his contract if he turns out to be handy!

Heard a rumour that Citeh is after Aquilani for $10m.

by all accounts he's looked good in pre-season but it may be good to sell him and pick up a CD, LB or LM.

Joe Cole's form has been decent as well from what I've read

Jeepers, at this rate city will want to change the game so it's 15 a side so they can get all their midfielders on the pitch! And I thought we were over stocked with midfielders!

I'm going out on a limb here!

  • Liverpool will have the Premiership sewn up by mid-March.
  • Suarez will win the golden boot and PFA player of the season.
  • We'll continue our run of beating the top clubs, while our purchases will give us more backbone and determination against the mid to lower table teams where we've dropped points so often in season past.
  • Our only real challenge will come from Citeh
  • Man Yoo will be in administration by January
  • Norwich, Swansea and Blackburn will be relegated
  • Gerrard will leave Liverpool in January for Spain or Italy

In order
1.Hope so but can't see it this year.Scoring goals won't be ani issue , stopping them may be.No harm in hoping though.
2.Damn right!!!!
3.Hopefully;We always get up for the Scum , it's teams like Wigan that have been our downfall.
4.Unfortunately , agree. But Old Whisky nose will hve a well prepared team as always.Wouldn't rule out Abramosonofabitch's $ either.
5.Heaven , I'm in heaven ( sung by Vince Butler of Psychadelic Furs)
6.Probably.
7.A year or so too late but not the great loss he woud have been 3 years ago.May not go now.But wouldn't mind if he did , same for Carra.

Good efforts though mate . Balls on the block time!!

Spearing to Wolves for a year long loan ?May be a good thing for the wee man if it happens. Barring injuries , may not get a lot of time this year . Might come back with a full season season under his belt which could only be good for us down the track.Thoughts?

Few good picks in there mate, hope they come true. I think the prem race for the top four will be the tightest it's ever been this season and it'll come down to who can consistently convert the 1pts into 3. Can't afford silly draws at home and those annoying losses away to the 'lesser' teams. This is the same stuff we talk about every season but more so now as 7 teams don't go into 4.

Chelski are probably favourites, Citeh won't be too far behind. Expect Manure to be there or there abouts as usual. Not sure about the Arse at the moment, depends if they can sort their laundry out before the season starts. Realistically I think we can be around 3rd place given the overhaul we've had but wouldn't surprise me if we edged out 2nd [insert Buffy's seasonal pic here]

I think we're going to be very competitive this season and the likes of Adam, Henderson, Downing and Aqua will surprise a few people and hopefully shut some of the LFC naysayers up who have eyes only for the Augero's and Mata's as saviours.

I think it will be good for him, I really like Spearing and hope he can push on that bit more to make him a better player!

Spanked by Hull and it wasn't that week a 'Pool team.

Hopefully just a blip on an otherwise upwards trajectory

Winners medal and player of the tournament trophy for suarez from copa america, should head back to pool on a high. Totally different team when he is playing, just hope he hasnt tired himself out

Suarez scored a brilliant goal too, looked really sharp.

what a player.

Luis Suarez leads Liverpool to the Premier League in 2011/2012 season.
True story.

Simply unplayable, absolutely adore him.

What are you on.

Kenny has been playing 4-2-3-1 all pre season. Suarez won't play as a lone striker, so out wide of the 3? Adam and Downing have obviously been bought to give service to Carroll so see him starting in a full strength team.

Haven't seen any pre-season, but, first team...

             Reina
Kelly Skrtel  Agger  Johnson
       Adam  Meireles
Suarez  Gerrard  Downing
            Carroll

I like Lucas but hard to see who would have preference. Read (on SB of somewhere) that Henderson will likely play on the right.

Maybe Agger (Insua too??) at LB and Carragher into the starting line. Also, Dirk hasn't really done anything wrong to warrant being on the outer.

and of players left

                      Doni
Flanagan  Carragher   Kyrgiakos Aurelio
                      Lucas
         Henderson      Aquilani
Rodriguez                              Cole
                       Kuyt

Lucas will surely be starting, can't really see adam or meireles doing too much defensive work in that first line up.

Hmm, I don't think he has enough potential upside for us to hang on to him if we get a decent offer.  Watched him live a couple of times last year and he's tenacious but limited

I don't see our signings as leading to one particular playing style.  I think he wants options - he played quite a few different styles and formations last year and I think he'll do so again this season.

Agreed on both counts JD. Spearo is a decent player, but he isn't going to develop hugely and we have more than enough cover in CM now. I like him, but don't really see a place for him, tbh.

And also agree, we have so many options now! Still think we could use an extra defender or two though. Be really interesting to see our team on the opening day, cannot wait!

Our midfield composition does change if Gerrard is out for a while and Aquaman leaves on loan to Fiorentina as rumoured.

Serious general question for any football fan. Is Poulsen good enough for a prem team?

The two games in Asia and the game v Hull were this formation.

Conceding goals like Goff conceding Labour Party leadership in November and then getting turned over by Hull might have ended the use of that formation.
