Your kidding me!?!? Carrick looses the ball about once a season.

Could you arrange for that to be next week against his old club, and at the same time let Tevez play for us that day. He doesnt have to transfer, the EPL overlook those things when we're involved.

Meh, even if we dont beat everton this week, we will almost definitely beat West Ham the week after.

Reasonable game. The ref was the most lenient ref I have ever seen, no cards dished out even on challenges that looked like they could have been sent off for it. Shouldve got one more penalty but the ref wasnt in a position to see. Overall, it was an alright game. MoM Ronaldo

Lastly, The Times report a question-and-answer sesssion between Manchester Uniteds celebrity fans and Sir Alex Ferguson. Dominic Monaghan, actor (Lord of the Rings):
Whats the most amazing thing youve seen in training?
The most amazing thing is Paul Scholes, in the morning, when a player goes to have a pee at the side of the training pitch and he fires balls from 40 yards right on top of their head! He got John OShea about two weeks ago, right on the shoulder. He got Gary Neville right in the head and Neville chased him across the pitch!

It was 1-1. Fletcher and Fellaini scored. Last year at Old Trafford we beat them 2-1. Just thought I'd point that out.

I have totally managed to miss the match yesterday, moved into a new flat and the Sky isn't connected just yet. Does anyone know when a replay is on? Highlights tonight at 7.30, though that never quite does it for me. I hate missing matches. Good to hear that the penalty was well deserved, everytime I think back to that Bolton game at OT I shudder.

I can imagine Gaz chasing Scholesy too, that would be hilarious.

Dominic Monaghan's the hobbit right? And Charlie from Lost?

yea, scholes sure is the man.

how good is michael carrick these days though?
his vision and passing is all class.
and to think people questioned fergie when he paid that much to bring him to OT a cupld of seasons ago

Thanks very much for hanging on to your blank sheet record until your visit. Whilst a great achievement, and credit to your defence, it does add a little bit of interest. Like unbeaten runs, a team generally lets go and relaxes once records come to an end, so I hope this will just be another
1 - 0 result involving Man U  with us getting it around the 90 minute mark. You can then open up and go for it next week.

I am the number one United fan on here  but I suggest you watch how many balls Michael Carrick gives away.

CARRICK

I missed the game due to being away from home. Glad to see Carrick doing what he does best. :) Also glad to see a nice record for us.

Question, would you give the defense most of the credit or Edwin?

The back four has been pretty dam solid even with all the changes, so I'd give them a lot of the kudos, though VDS is still a mega legend.

I watched Carrick play when he was with West Ham a few seasons back and if there was one thing I noticed about him then, it was that he was slow to react when he had the ball at his feet. He seemed to take an age to decide what he was going to do with it. I'm not sure I ever noticed that about him until I watched him play live. I'm sure however that these days he has improved that side of his game.

Speaking of West Ham. You Scum supporters must be getting nervous?

Maybe I understand the game a bit better than you.I never said he was not a good player, just that he gives the ball away more that he should.

I think in fairness although he (Carrick) has given away a number of balls in the past he is the type of player who is trying to create a goal opportunity and hence takes a risk.  However I think its been a characteristic of his recent games that he has still done those passes but given the ball away remarkably few times.

Top of the league where we belong.

f**kin class Giggsy goal today, love it when he's on the scoresheet.

It felt to me he looked a little pissed on the right, so when he got to the left made his mark. :)

he was injured for the start of the season

Not only was he injured, but Fletcher has been playing very well as well. Giggs has been shifted into the middle this season (apart from Monday morning, where Michael has already pointed out, he played on the left). But there is no question of Carrick's class.

Its why we're so successful :D

Jeez I hope we don't turn into Chelsea when Alex retires. Hopefully someone like Solskjr will be slowly mentored in by Alex and be just as great

And in other news, Alex thinks Giggs is destined for knighthood

Wow that would be an honour for Giggsy, but I would say in football terms he deserves it immensely. The only thing he never did was go to a major tournament with Wales, though if they make it to 2010 maybe he'll be out of retirement then!

I'm still picking Mourinho to replace Fergie actually, I think Solskjaer might still be a bit green. Jose has said he will return to England, possibly after his time at Inter, and the only other club big enough would be United. Apart from Man City  Having said that, I still can't imagine the day when Sir Alex hangs up his... training manual?

I dread the retirement of Sir Alex as I'm worried about what the Glazers will do once he's gone. I'm not only worried they'll take to the Abranimovic school of managerial faith but the fact is the only thing that has changed at United since they arrived is the one thing Alex has no control over, ticket prices.

I'm worried they'll push around anyone who doesn't have the combination of scottish stubborness along with the right to lean back and say "have you seen my medal collection?"

In terms of who we should poach to manage Manchester United once he's done, I vote for Martin O'Neil.
He's proved time and time again that he has the ability to get the most out of his players and achive much more than his team sheat would entitle him to.
He's passionate, also seems to be the type who won't let himself be dictacted to by the boardroom or by his players. This same strength in management is what has served United so well till now.

Yea that's a great call actually, I think Martin O'neill is a fantastic manager. I mean who can argue with Villa at the moment, over achieving dare I say it. And yea he definitely has that passion and enthusiasm that Sir Alex's successor requires. Possibly Ole doesn't quite have it.
