Ferguson does what he believes is best for Man U. The success they have is due soley to what he has achieved. Forget Busby and the legacy etc, all that was long gone when he inherited the club. So for an armchair fan to question the guy after what he has given the club is typiical of Man U fans at the moment. One loss and they say he doesn't know what he is doing!

Ferguson picked the team he believed could beat Leeds while also balancing the squad for the heavy fixture load of Xmas. It was the players who let him down - only Rooney and Valencia bothered in that game.

The players he picked in that game were never going to beat Leeds. The point is that that is 2 years in a row that he has picked poor sides in the FA Cup.
What he forgets is that all the United supporters expect a better deal from him. After all Utd are either the most supporteed or close to it club in the world.
As you are obviously not a United fan, perhaps you don't watch their games, and player changes.
My comment is not typical of United supporters. Unlike many other clubs we expect the best. AF is not above criticism. He made a mistake as he did last year in the semi=final of the FA cup. I am sure he will make many more mistakes this season, but that does not mean that MU supporters have to agree with everything that he does, because I for one will not. We are all entilted to our opinion.

So players like Gary Neville, Wes Brown, Wayne Rooney, Johnny Evans, Dimitar Berbatov, Micheal Owen, Antonia Valencia and Ryan Giggs, all full international players,  are never good enough to beat Leeds from the 3rd tier of English football? Give me a break!!!!

And 'What he forgets is that all the United supporters expect a better deal from him' is the most ludicrous comment I have ever heard!!! There is NO ONE in the history of English Football who has a better record than him!! So you must be mad to EXPECT better.

And for your information I have avidly followed Man U for over 25 years as my second team (due to Reading obviously getting little coverage here) and understand what this man has done.

I can't resist this reply.
Gary Neville,Wes Brown,Michael Owen are not starting players for Utd. The fact that your players are internationals don't cut it with me. Are Wales in the in the top 50?Is Owen in the England squad?
I noticed you made no comment that all Utd supporters do not always agree with AF or the fact that we are allowed our opinion. Also that last year he put out a crap side in the FA cup semi.
Just because he is the most successful manager in the EPL(I have a great respect for him)does not mean that he cannot make any mistakes. He has and will continue as noone is perfect.
I have been a Unitrd supporter for over fifty years and have played against United 3 times and against AF twice, so I think that I know something about football>

Hahaha you get even funnier! Michael Owen not as good as players in the 3rd tier?? Wes Brown is United's starting right back when fit (and Glen Johnsons deputy for England. AND I am glad you know where Wales are ranked even though NONE of the players I mentioned play for them!! Johnny Evans plays for Northern Ireland. Better luck next time you open your gob without knowing everything.

You have a right to disagree with SAF, but the your expectation of better from  him shows what a fool you are.

Crikey! So much bad vibes on the threads tonight (and I'm in a particularly sanctimonious mood). I blame the big gap between Nix home games and the Nor'wester and the pre-game nerves.

And the fact that everyone else is a tw@t and I'm right.

Blmey,

Back from holidays and on the forum for the first time in 2 weeks. Happy New Year all!

Was bitterly dissapointed to lose to Leeds, we really should beat them every time we play them.
I did say to myself the night before that we better watch out for Beckford, that guy is playing well below where he should be. The fact I mention him is simply that he scored the goal, I actually don't know how the whole game panned out.

No reason to panic, obviously a massive disappointment but we must use this to our advantage, by using the time off during FA Cup weekends to recoup and prepare for an onslaught in the League. Next step has to be beating Birmingham on Sunday morning.

The reason why Beckford is playing in that division is that while he has the ability he is rumoured to have a poor attitude. Reading and at least one other team were interested but were put of by that. Hope he makes a go of it at Newcastle if thats where he ends up

O'Shea is the starting right back. Jonny Evans only playes (although I rate him) when Rio is not playing. I think you are the one that should engague brain before opening mouth.
I don't know everything. What I have said is MY opinion.
Have a look up what the word opinion means. Ones openions cannot be wrong.

Ups to you Leggy.
Of course Ferguson makes mistakes, as do players. Get several all doing it together and you get a result like the one against Leeds. Disappointed but over it. The true beauty of football, David v Goliath and all that. Aren't we fortunate to be supporters of the greatest club in the world?

What's sight without sound? Love without peace? Copulation without conception?

I think you are right, but it is just as well we don't all like the same things. It would be a very boring world.
Imagine if everyone supported United, we would not be able to take the piss out of anyone else?

With the refinancing they will be able to pay off the debt that matures soon enough... which I think is part of showing how running a club like this will work, not that I'm a big fan of it... Apparently it will offer even greater flexibility in the transfer market as well, though apparently there have never been any restrictions.

Of course it would be nice if this sort of thing wasn't an issue, but since the Glazers took over it has been a reality.

Back from Holiday, been without TV and Internet, so the only football I've seen is via an Auckland News paper (aka Nothing)

Thngs to remember with United's debt;
-> It can be very easily made back by selling a share in the club.
-> We have some fairly expensive assets. (Players)
-> Plenty of Billionares would happily buy the club and pay the debts. (Think Arabs and Asians)

I'm not really loving or hating them at the moment - they are not interefering with team management at any level, and have, as far as anyone can tell, placed no restrictions on transfer funds. Their plan relies on continual success on the pitch, bet they're glad they didn't buy the Arse or LOLerpool. That is why they have stated they are a little worried about life after SAF.

If I was living in Manchester I may well feel angsty over ticket prices, but they still manage to get 76,000 along every weel.

At the end of the day, I am confident they will sort an exit strategy when the times comes. If not, then I may express my dislike for them.

It kind of is, if you honestly believe the current situation is going to see the end of United, you're kidding your self.

In terms of a football match, it was quite good. But from a United fans perspective, I was less than impressed. Burnley had 4 or 5 golden chances to take the lead (imagine if Steven Fletcher hadn't gone off injured), and I thought we were fairly toothless in that first half. That is aside from Valencia, who continues to be the best player on the pitch. Imagine if we had Ruud these days, or Dwight and Andy, they would be scoring gazillions of goals.

The second half, Berba should have nailed that goal when he hit the post, that was a remarkable first touch but a poor finish. Fortunately he got a deflection on the first and then Wayne scored, and the game was decided. But I am still a bit worried with games at the Arse and Villa coming up.

Nani is utter bollocks. Get rid of him, and give a young guy a chance, or bring in Ashley Young.

Yeah I'm sick of Nani. And I'm also going to continue my constant whining about Anderson... who I believe is only out there to get himself into a scoring position.

I wouldn't read too much into it. Apparently Arsene Wenger is buying Pep and his family a house in London, and helping them settle in so he can take over Arsenal in 2011 as well.
