It was a pretty good game. Tevez had an alright game. Popped up in the right place for his second, penalty was a little dodgy with first contact made a reasonable distance outside of the box. Best game from Rooney in a while, creating a couple of chances out of nothing. Plenty of penetration on the flanks from Utd, just not much through the middle.

LOL

Followed the game at work, so havn't seen any of it. It had to HIM that scored but never mind, I'll take my pill and think about Mikey Owen's goal back in September some more...

Think we are about all square heading into next weeks league, their goal cancelling out our home advantage. Exciting prospect.

anyone actually bothered to read the sell and lease deal?

It appears MUFC is not content with turning the EPL into spend to win contest but in fact totally dismantling any credence to the game belonging to the community.

actually be good for English football to kick them out, come back when ya house is in order and when your finances are not destabilizing the competition to the detriment of 99% of fans.

shame, shame, shame.

I have read only bits and pieces in the media. Should have stricter ownership rules and rules that govern debt to assets or something like that. Germany has something of the sort. UEFA should introduce it and teams that don't meet the criteria aren't allowed to participate. That should put pressure on national governing bodies to put the same in place for their leagues.

when two of the great sides of the English domestic game are in such financial disarray it's more than time to get that broom out.

525 000 000 pounds borrowed to buy MUFC
some of this was from hedge funds @ 14.25% interest
despite record turn-over in 2008 (and winning Prem and CL)
the interest on this still means an operating loss of 45 000 000 pounds

the  majority of the turnover profit is local... in that it's ticket sales/Old Trafford
less than 2% is from overseas
so if MUFC totally disenfranchise the locals exactly how is this economic program sustainable?

not that I am suggesting it is anyway...

sorry red mancs, not trying to troll

but this cracked me up from espnsoccernet;

"Ferguson has suggested Van der Sar is the best goalkeeper in the world; given Shay Given's form, he isn't even the best in Manchester"

Reminded me of one of the all-time classic sledges i read about;

Mark Waugh: "you're sh*t"
Mike Atherton: "atleast I'm the best player in my family"

I don't think it was Atherton, was someone on debut, definitely a pom, and Mark Waugh told him that he 'didn't belong out here playing test cricket' to which the player made your classic reply.

No wonder Fergie told him to leave United, Sir Alex has never been a fan of attitudes and this guy clearly has one!

Not a fan of that tbh.

I thought it was a good game.
The ref was poor == both ways. Trevez was great, he is a prick- I never liked him when he was at Utd. I reckon Utd were the better side and even if the team was not the stongest they were the better side. 58% possession tells me that they had the better of the game.
Not happy with the result but they played well enough to suggest that they wiil win the return game neaxt week.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Yeah noticed he actively celebrated - more rubbish from 'Billy Bulls**t' Tevez!

Claimed he would never celebrate a goal against United for the sake of the fans who loved him...
goes along with the "Fergie never offered me a contract" when Ferguson said it was the Agent who played games. Fact is Tevez would have stayed if the price was right.

150,000 pounds a week is the right price apparently.

He wasn't going to celebrate but as our fans gave him a nice greeting back to OT in September he decided he would. He thought he would still be idolised there or something?

Some titbits from the story:
[quote]Manchester United's parent company's overall debt has swelled to 716.5 million, latest accounts reveal...

Red Football Joint Venture paid out 68.5 million in interest on their debts in 2009 but unlike the previous year, returned an overall profit of 6.4 million in 2009. In 2008, they returned a 47 million loss.

The profit can almost entirely be explained by the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid in the summer for 80 million.

Red Football Joint Venture's accounts record an 80.7 million profit on ''disposal of players'' compared to a 21 million profit in 2008.

i've noticed LG deriding big-four supporters in this manner at any opportunity

perhaps a bit of jealousy as QPR is such a joke

i read that they've had 14 managers since they last won an FA Cup match... is that true? now that's some big LOLz

what people are forgetting is that its been this way since the glazers took over in 05 and is the reason why so many people were against it in the first place.

its also why fc united of manchester was formed...

the only reason its being spoken of now is because many other top flight clubs are being bled dry, and its juicy gossip. the papers are having a field day with it

this seems to be what you say to everyone who supports a top 4 club

do you not believe that supporters of good teams can also be loyal to their team?

I also question what sides young Kiwi kids are supposed to follow... Naturally the Phoenix should be number one from now on but with all the EPL on, highlights being shown in the news, parents watching games, the best players playing in the World Cup (Rooney, Fabregas, Drogba etc) all playing in a very accessible competition, of course they are going to support English teams as well. Do people actually expect kids not to idolise these massive, storied clubs?

If you do come across a flip-flopper LG, by all means give him plenty. But don't bring that baseless sh*t in here.

Well, it is getting more attention as previous seasons we had still been able to spend money on improving the squad; Berbatov a couple of seasons ago as an example. This season, really last 18 months, has seen us sell Ronaldo, not take up the option for Tevez, even cancel planned transfers such as Adem Ljajic (Belgrade saying that Man Utd pulled out due to cost involved, while Man Utd were saying he wasn't good enough or work permit issues, both arguments dont make sense as Tosic joined Man Utd supposedly as part of the deal for Ljajic and got a permit and Fiorentina has just signed Ljajic to a 5 year contract, so he must be decent, if the money was flowing SAF would have taken the gamble on the potential of an 18 year old). The credit crisis would have surely had a large affect on the Glazers and Man Utd considering the size of their debts.

Latest Tevez c**p -   days after saying that he wasnt taunting anyone with his celebration (he claimed he was mimicking an Argentinian puppet), he has now come out and said he was taunting Gary Neville, who is acccording to him, 'Fergusons bootlicker'!! can this guy ever come up with ONE version of a story?

Also it must rile City fans that he goes on and on about being let go by United as if he is resentful!
