Cracking weekly review by Arsenal Gentleman this week.

Having had all this time at Arsenal, at one point being a fixture for the future, then having to sit on the sidelines injured while this group won a trophy and we bolstered the frontline significantly, it can't have been easy for him. I hope he has the mental strength to knuckle down and stick with it rather than take the easy road and go somewhere else to get easier starts.

The thing is, if he wants to stay he isn't going to get anything like the contract he wants or would get from being a marquee signing for another club. Frankly Arsenal have the resources to recruit better.

Sounded like a quality display. Nice bit of a role we are on. Anyone get injured?

Nope :)

All three goals were of a high quality. Walcott's finishing was poor, but good to see him start again. Thank god for Coq.

Three for me, and two for them.

Giroud was fantastic this morning, probably one of his best ever games for us.

Faaark our goals were things of beauty this morn

Walcott should have pulled the trigger inside the first 5 minutes, instead had a penalty shout turned down

Giroud had one assist this morn but probably should've had 3 or even more. Theo looked rusty in front of goal, but I thought there were encouraging moments in the other parts of his game. I doubt he'll play against Monaco but could be worth another start next weekend.

Just saw an extended highlights. Wow. Those goals. Now that is vintage arsenal. Good to see both Rambo and wally full of running. And giroud was 'lethal' with his movements and short passing.

Wheels falling off Chelsea bus? Terry's piece on why he sprints 30m whilst trampling his own prone player stretches anyones levels of belief surely.

Are we in the market for Phil Bardsley? Could be a knock out signing.

Was at the game yesterday, I've never really had a strong opinion of the Walcott debate apart from thinking he offered us a different dimension but after seeing him yesterday I'm firmly in the 'he's a lazy sharke' camp. Can be brilliant and offers us a lot going forward but having him starting plays with our balance I think. He just doesn't work very hard for large periods.

Shouldn't have got to the point where he was denied a penalty as he could have shot with one of his 45 previous touches while one on one with the goalie!

Aside from that little rant, very nice performance yesterday. Some vintage Wegnerball.

On a personal note, took my 6 and 11 year old nephews to a game for the first time. Both massive Arsenal fans and absolutely loved it, was so great to see their faces and hear their voices as we left the concourse to go into the bowl. Very cool moment.

@Bopman that is bloody awesome, good on you mate!

RE: Walcott I don't think we should be so quick to give up on the guy. He's done his ACL & only just come back. He's played like 3 games and we're expecting Sanchez like performances. Give him a bit of time and he'll get back to his finishing best.

Imagine going 3-5-2 for Monaco?

                Ospina

     Chambers Per Kosc

         Coquellin Ramsey

Sanchez    Ozil        Cazorla

        Welbeck  Giroud

With Walcott & Rosicky on the bench for extra pace against tired legs, or Gibbs & Flamini on the bench to hold the lead once we get it.

was just randomly emailing ajc28 and it got the heart pumping about Monaco tomorrow... i reckon we can do this

I think we should look at putting a technical team on the park to break them down. They will sit deep and defend, even if that isn't their gameplan - in these cases it's a mental thing. If you have a first leg lead against a team considered stronger than you, then naturally you'll concede the ball and look to defend, even if you don't plan it that way.

In my opinion the best players in our team for breaking down defences like that are Ozil, Cazorla, Giroud and Ramsey. Giroud is all about the first time lay-offs and flicks, he's perfect for it. Cazorla and Ozil have great control and pinpoint passing. Ramsey is perfect foil for all of those three when he bursts through from midfield. If he plays like he did against Westham then he'll be the key. So on that note I reckon;

                          Ospina

Bellerin-Mertesacker-Koscielny-Monreal

                Coquelin-Ramsey

            Sanchez-Cazorla-Ozil

                           Giroud

I'd go Rosicky for Ramsey.

Rosicky is out with illness and Akpom is in. With Gabriel in I would like to see the 3-5-2 with Gabi in for Chambers a.

Too gung-ho for my liking, like the looks of your team Paulm, think that's what we'll see with a definite cameo for Welbeck and Walcott either side of Giroud late in the game to really stretch them. Better check kick off, think it's 8.45 for you guys so 4.45 here. Going to be a long day tomorrow!

It would be UG... can't wait to get this CWC (win) out of the way before firing up about the U20WC - oh, and the Nix winning some silverware (or a dunny seat).

Only change from my predicted lineup is Welbeck in for Ramsey. Guess he's being eased back in after the injury troubles, not backing up after the weekend.

Monaco have 2 DMFs playing so we all know what's happening there.

Our team

                         Ospina

Bellerin-Mertesacker-Koscielny-Monreal

                 Coquelin-Cazorla

             Welbeck-Ozil-Sanchez

                         Giroud

Man 15 minutes in and all they can do is pump the ball away, 90 minutes of unlocking the parked bus.

Giroud spanks one home, could he go from villan to hero in one game? And DAMN Welbeck went close! What a save from the defender...
