I think the whole Franklin/Oram thing is as yet a non-issue... Because:
  • Franklin is yet to reach a stage with his fitness where he can perform as a 3rd/4th test seamer... though there is little doubt that in a month or three he will. You could argue his bowling is stronger than Jake's, so if his batting steps up what do you do?

  • Oram is yet to reach a stage with his fitness where he can perform as a 3rd/4th test seamer... and there is some doubt whether he will... will/can he make the team as a batsman who bowls a bit, or not at all? And if so, at who's expense? Flynn? Ryder? Fulton? (ok, the last one was optimistic, though I'd love to see 2MP get a good ton in Adelaidel).

agreed at this point Orqam's bowling/fitness could be seen as secure for a 3rd seamer, especially if we wanted 2 spinners, Franklins bowling when fit is far better than Orma's and offers a bit off difference, left arm swing compared to right arm med.

Batting wise, I think Oram has a slight edge but Franklin is fast improving, last couple fo seasons he has scored big numbers for Wellington. And he seems to be getting fitter and stronger each game.

Plenty of big scores from the latest round:

Bell 122
Franklin 219
Woodcock 102*
McIntosh 191
Williamson 73
Ingram 247
Sinclair 101
Watling 111
Broom 140*

If only our test players could do the same.

To be fair, these guys aren't getting Lee, Clark, Watson, Johnson etc etc chucking down balls at 140k's +
At best, our medium pacers in NZ domestic cricket on tame pitches don't offer much of a threat

By the looks of it he wants to be there on 4 at 3.30. That's what put the pressure on all the other batcmen and screwed us up in Bangladesh

Corrected.

Don't get too excited. If Redmond can make it look like he has, then we're in for it when they come in. Get on a draw at TAB

Taylor looking dodgy against Lee, who's getting a bit of reverse. Had him caught at cover of a n0-ball.

It's  a 500+ wicket. Lucky we are batting cos the Aussies will be smashing the fence if they were in.
I said it before, but at the risk of sounding negative about an 83 from Redmond, it isn't good enough.
If Aussies score 500, there would be 2 or 3 century makers.

Agreed. So many starts on this wicket and then getting out is not good enough. NZ players lack concentration and any sort of killer instinct to really punish teams when they have an advantage.

218/3, 8th ranking here we come. I think the players are going to purposely finish this in three days to get Bracewell out of their hair.

241/3 at Stumps. New ball 2nd over tommorrow, can't see us doing much with it though.

Aussie will get around 500 and declare giving them enough time to bowl us out for under 200 to finish the test early on day four yet again.

Three for me, and two for them.
