Don't know what they did before kick-off to piss of the Referee. Looked like 90% of the calls went Mars way.

Final:

Caversham 4 Cashmere Tech 2 (HT 3 - 0)

Saw the first half of Tech vs Western, was a reasonably boring game. Tech goal was well created, albeit poorly finished. Went and saw the whole Caversham game. Certainly Cashmere Tech had the best of the first 20 minutes, but Cavey despite that Cavey went 2up. Reasonably even game for the remainder with Caversham just a little bit ahead in most aspects. Tech goals were soft and most likely a result of defensive complancency.

Fingers crossed for 2 more home games in 2 weeks.

Both Hamilton teams out, no away trips or watching out of town teams for me :-/.

Central definitely the best Auckland team left, then Birko. Very disappointed with Melville, can't score to save themselves this year, Suburbs had very little ball early but Melville lack a striker now that Tyler Boyd's gone.

Eastern Suburbs haven't won a game in the league this season, yet are now in quarters, that'd be a rare double!

Birko v Lower Hutt City                      Game of the round, give it to Birko with home ground advantage

Miramar v Dunedin Tech                      Miramar, if they have their full contingent of Junior Nixs

Central v Eastern Suburbs                    Central easy, Eastern Suburbs are not the team their history suggests

Caversham v Manukau                         Caversham easy, The cost of airfares could break Manukau`s bank account

Early Predications

Can't disagree with any of those predictions there. Poor old Manukau, second bottom in Division 2, amazing cup run, but could go bankrupt because of it. Harsh realitites

Caversham and Central will win. Hard to call the first two. Miramar will be slight favourites. With the Junior Nix players, would I be correct in saying if they played for thier own club early in the comp, they're ineligible? In saying that, if tech play how they did on Sunday, it'll be an easy 'Mar win.

I’ll admit my knowledge of the Southern teams is average at best, but I thought I’d make some odds for the Chatham Cup quarters and winner:

Quarters:

Central $1.55 Eastern Suburbs $3.75

Birkenhead $1.75 Lower Hutt $2.05

Caversham $1.30 Manukau $7

Mirimar $1.60 Dunedin Tech $2.30

Winner:

Central $3.60

Mirimar $5.20

Caversham $7.10

Dunedin Tech $12

Birkenhead $14.00

Lower Hutt $19.00

Eastern Suburbs $35.00

Manukau $65.00

Obviously a lot depends on the draw, and my winner odds might be a bit excessive/generous but I think Central have gotta be faves at this point in time

You would have to say Central, Birkenhead, Miramar & Caversham would be heavy favourites to make the last four

I'll lump on Birko at $14 if you are offering that.

Quite happy people view us as outsiders or underdogs. Much like when Three Kings made the final in 2009 as a Div 1 side, people need to look beyond the division/tier we are in and see the actual quality in the side. Can't say i'm worried about any other sides left in it.

Three for me, and two for them.

If they were in the Premier League they'd definitely stay up, I'd say from what I've seen of you guys you'd be better than teams like Manurewa and Suburbs. All depends on the draw of course though, Central would be tough, but I'd say any team bar Manukau could win it.

While Cavey are deserved clear favourites for the 1/4's, I'd say they are probably a touch short overall as they're set to lose a couple of big names, I'd say maybe $9.50.  And due to the tough quarter, I'd say Tech are a touch short as well, would have them at about $16, with based on the players at Birko, I'd have them at about $11. But apart from that, it looks fairly accurate.

Hi all, just on Manukau, they've been handed a pretty tough gig not just football wise but obviously financially and finding enough money to get themselves to Dunedin will be a very tough ask. They have a great story and it would be great if the football community could come together and help them out. I have written a blog post that details how you can help out, including bank details for all donations big and small. Thanks in advance. :-)

That's actually really irritating. It makes no sense to play both games in Auckland at the same time and they both clash with the Women's KO Cup semi finals so instead of being able to go to at least two games and patronise more than one club, we can only choose one. I don't see why they would set it up like that.

Been away for a few months  amazed to see manukau in the quarter finals, think birko will find it tough as tuiloma away on trials next week and wont be back and hobson and linderboom leave to play in aussie on sunday. but sure will be a good game lower hutt are a good young team from last  i saw them play

picking lower hutt 2-1... cavvy  5.0... central 6.0... mira 3.2

Hmmmmm If I was close to an Auckland club playing in a Chatham Cup quarter final against a Wellington based team, what would I post in a primarily Wellington based fan forum sure to be read by my opposition... Truth or misinformation?

They probably suspect I'd be posting misinformation, so if I post the truth they will think it's misinformation. But they know I know they will suspect misinformation. So if I post misinformation, they will think it's the truth. But they know I know they know I know they know what they know. And if they think they know I know they know I know they know, what do they think I know?
