Thats rubbish, if it did not connect there is no issue here, according to the precedent set by capital football jake would have been better off punching the opponent knocking them out and getting 5 weeks. So inconsistent, who are the puppets who sit on the tribunal?[/QUOTE]

Law 12 (fouls and misconduct) part (f) indicates a player is guilty of misconduct if they strike or attempt to strike an opponent. So if he missed when he tried to headbutt the other player it doesn't matter - it's still a red card offence. He's been a very silly boy - any local Scouse can give him lessons on how to headbutt properly - it's not that difficult.

Yes but nill all at half time and the Island Bay goalie off before the half and a non goalie outfielder in goal for the entire second half may have  helped UH just a teensy  bit !!

Fat Pedro on for the second half was the difference. He was all class.

Island bay loss really brings them back to the field especially as they have a tricky game against mar while united and UH are squaring off this weekend.

Makes the game the following week a big game in terms of the league outcome id say

Thought the stand-in keeper did well - had he not, it could have been a few more - thinking particularly of Pedro's drive to the near post which he palmed over.  Don't think you can lay it at his door - eg the far post header wasn't his.
Agree re Pedro.

Was a bit surprised that they put that player in goal, he was one of there better outfielders. Upper Hutt could have scored a few more too

Yes and Island Bay could have scored 2 in the first half and one in the second but the UH goalie had a cracker of a game and I saw him pull off at least 2 magnificent saves.
Don't get me wrong, it was def a deserved win to UH.

Also did you think that the strikers challenge on the goalie was a bit dodgy? I'm surprised no-one from the Bay complained to the ref, maybe it was just me not seeing it right.

But you are right, the goalie did make some good saves and the first half was quite even. The goalie getting subbed made a big difference

Thought it was a 50/50 from my angle and the goalie Henry van Dyk was very brave. It's only his first year out of school. He is actually the Island Bay 3rd team goalie !

50/50 for me too - a committed challenge from both players and a shame it ended with an injury.  Hope Mr van Dyke is OK now.

Porteous has done a flippin good job stablising the ship after a tough start.  As anyone who cares to look at my coaching record in Cap 1 last year can see, fixing a form slump like that is not easy!

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Good point - West Ham went 6 unbeaten around Jan and their season finished alright.

Miramar 4-1 over IBU I hear. Michael Smith and Wiremu Patrick starring for the home side...sheesh poor old Island Bay, those two are class.

Ideal result for welly united. Does sound like a good mar team though, brook tozer class as well

Ya Tozer is class also I can't believe he is only playing Prem League. And Calcott has done well with the reserves with the old/young mix. I like the look of Mortar, Becker, and the big Centre Back (who is he?) who are just 19/20 yr olds.

Olympic rocked up with Jimmy Hadakis (sp?) and George B running the midfield today. Completely bossed the first half, then decided that running was too hard in the second half.

Could of been 3 all to be honest

Seems like Miramar and Olympic both enjoyed having their first team off today

Yes wires crossed is nothing unusual for me - but I was merely noting he was a LEEDS UTD (LUFC) fan (hence badly confused); perhaps you thought I meant he was a Lower Hutt fan (only partially confused). I did have the good luck to play with a former Leeds Utd/England U-21 captain as a lad- yes a contemporary of Madeley, Reaney et al he was until he broke his leg and that was that. Leeds Utd were THE side when I was growing up - hence my jibe about Leeds. I can even recite what we used to sing to Leeds on the Gladys Street end if you like...but I'm sure you know it all by heart already.
