Plenty of interest in the up coming games on Saturday:

In the battle to avoid the wooden spoon, Halswell at home to Western - depending on the result one of these ever present clubs in the MPL since 2002 may be playing in the CCL in 2017.

History will be made at the game between leaders Cashmere Technical and Universities at Garrick Memorial Park in that first ever MPL that will be reffed by female - Anna-Marie Keighley and asst. ref Sarah Jones are down from Auckland. Both at the last women's World Cup in 2015 and heading off to the Rio for the Olympics.

Other games FC hosting Suburbs and the battle for the Eastern seaboard - Coastal at home to Bays

If there was a Div 2 thread, which thankfully there isn't, it would say that the Coastal Snowmen (featuring a pile of ex Coastal/Rangers/Brighton ex players) could win the league this weekend.

But it won't cos there isn't.

While you are on that I see the FC20 Thunder Panthers have lost some of their thunder this season.

From being a team at the top of that division they are now looking to splash some cash and have offered a Nomads MPL [previous] player an open cheque book to play.

There is a chance [not too far out here] an ASB Prem player playing more than a cameo role in midfield next season.

I have heard the cheque can only be cashed at the club bar for team beers.

Maybe a way for Mr Lapslie to get a transfer or two without looking like poaching.

Do you mean present MPL players are not handing over money for the beers or are they not drinking.

Can honestly say that's some of the worst goalkeeping I've ever seen in my life.
Also was that ekow playing for coastal #17?

I know it is a different code and all, but hopefully it doesn't come into the football side of things here in Christchurch. I haven't come across it ever thankfully. I am the 1st to admit I was a bit of a c*$t on the pitch to other players, but would never go so far as racism.

And i thought Over 35 Div 2 was bad. That # 6 in goal has to be a plant to add to the comedic value of the video surely?

Haha no, he's not our usual goalkeeper, we were very short on the day. But yes this is comedy gold.

Yes I got that and just another jab at clubs paying players with mine.

Good luck to the CS boys at the weekend.

Christchurch United defaulted in the CCL Reserve grade game vs Burwood.

How long before they default in the CCL grade?

Picking Burwood to get a win in the CCL game tomorrow.

Christchurch United should prepare to pick up sticks and close up shop.  They add nothing - crap facilities (Apart from the Russian bailing them out and have no real players. Go Merge with someone else and say goodnight

After last week I'll be more shocked if Utd won rather than Burwood. They could struggle to pick another point up this year

Selwyn must feel a bit silly. They have dropped 4 points to them. That has ruled them out of the promotion race.

Yep very silly! (Actually 5 points dropped). Doesn't make any of what Dragoon said any less true

At the start of season Chch Utd had a decent 1st team and managed to put out a reserves. It seems the last few weeks there's been a lot of disharmony and a number of players have left or not playing for some reason.

Just unfortunate for Selwyn that they have met them whilst they still had the players, think round 4 will be a different ball game when the 2 meet

Selwyn CCL Played Waimak today. I only saw the first half but at that stage Waimak were 1-0 up.  I know the result ended 2-1 to Waimak - So a big well done to the young Waimak side.  Also Officially Congratulate Nomads -  that pretty much seals the deal for them to progress to MPL next year, well earned!

So back to the drawing board for 2017.

Yes. The average points scored by the relegated side for the previous six season has been 13 points, so is the oldest club (without a name change) in Christchurch now safe.
