I suggested he might get a recall earlier this afternoon in the All Whites thread. He's so much better than Gillion. Though was criminal for him to stray offside before his disallowed goal, he was looking down the line
Why isn't that a low thigh rather than a high boot? It looked like a clean win of the ball by Vetstraete, and while there wasn't much he could do about the follow through, it looked like he did try to withdraw the offending boot. A typical slide tackle, no malice intended. Seems his only option was to not contest the ball, but M'Mombwa had that option too. Maybe the rules say automatic red, but I feel a bit sorry for Verstraete.Half a Pint
Thought Toomey has looked good all season, tonight too, but hasn't has many chances. Ditto Elliot. Maybe two recruits for the Nix? François much improved tonight.

After his post goal theatrics at the ROF post the first derby (shouting in Oluwayemi's face) I don't ever see a Toomey return to the Nix. With Payne, Sheridan & Piper think Nix have enough RB cover. So no strong need for a Callan return.
Elliott's actually played 12 games (595 mins) for Auckland FC. And he's cover for an aging Sakai, who's also Auckland's 4th CB. Elliott should probably stay in Auckland as long as he can.
One player who I reckon the Nix should try entice from Auckland is Jonty Bidois. Even just a loan deal for a season. If May & Mata both return to AFC next season, Bidois will again get very limited ALM mins.
I've liked his limited Auckland cameos to date. 18 mths older than Luke Supyk I think he's currently likely the better striker. Looks a bit more physical for sure.
21 in November. 12 goals in 14 games for Tauranga City who were only 7th in the Northern League last season
In comparison Supyk (just turned 19), got 6 goals in 14 games for Weenix (Central League & National League combined). Weenix were 5th in Central League.

A very easy decision to upgrade that to a red imo
it was neither, just a reckless tackle with studs up contact to the leg. Easy red!
Fair points, though I think Elliot would be better than any Nix RB on current form. And all have been used in other positions. Forgot about that Toomey incident!coochiee

Well, at least one of them are on their way to doing just that. Screenshot 2025-03-14 225120.png28.54 KB And now Perth have equalised, we definitely got some high-scoring games in both competitions tonight.
For 60 mins, MV have WSW on the ropes, Arzani, Velupillay, Piscopo torturing the defence. After 60 mins, 2-1 up, Dilis subs Arzani and Piscopo. The game turns immediately, WSW press, and win 4-2. At the presser, Dillis doesn't know how they lost. If he manages to work it out, MV will be very hard to stop.
