Why isn't that a low thigh rather than a high boot? It looked like a clean win of the ball by Vetstraete, and while there wasn't much he could do about the follow through, it looked like he did try to withdraw the offending boot. A typical slide tackle, no malice intended. Seems his only option was to not contest the ball, but M'Mombwa had that option too. After his post goal theatrics at the ROF post the first derby (shouting in Oluwayemi's face) I don't ever see a Toomey return to the Nix. With Payne, Sheridan & Piper think Nix have enough RB cover. So no strong need for a Callan return.
Elliott's actually played 12 games (595 mins) for Auckland FC. And he's cover for an aging Sakai, who's also Auckland's 4th CB. Elliott should probably stay in Auckland as long as he can.
One player who I reckon the Nix should try entice from Auckland is Jonty Bidois. Even just a loan deal for a season. If May & Mata both return to AFC next season, Bidois will again get very limited ALM mins.
I've liked his limited Auckland cameos to date. 18 mths older than Luke Supyk I think he's currently likely the better striker. Looks a bit more physical for sure.

In comparison Supyk (just turned 19), got 6 goals in 14 games for Weenix (Central League & National League combined). Weenix were 5th in Central League.

A very easy decision to upgrade that to a red imo
