Tens of thousands of the idle rich and their hangers-on guillotined. Hmmm. I suppose Robespierre had some bad qualities as well, though.

I think most of the dead were peasants who were accused of withholding grain or deserting the army or similar stuff.
That whole period in history does raise interesting questions about the dangers of revolutionary zeal, the extent to which culpability for social inequality can be extended to individuals, and by extension the tensions between collective and individual liberties. Maybe Gareth was quoting Robespierre to stimulate intellectual debate among fans in order to combat the acknowledged lack of sophistication in that demographic?

I can't remember from my studies at uni. Doloras, you seem well infomed about such matters and very sophisticated, did the Monarch restrict the pets the peasants could own?

GM seems more in the Jean-Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir, Ché mould.  Have an idea, don't mind how many heads you chop off on the way, get them before they get you.  Before you know it, you're dead, but you're sell millions of tee shirts with your picture on it.

Or he has been given a Jamie Oliver cook book and is up to the "cook the man some eggs" chapter.

Sven Hassel!! Quality! Used to love those books. Marvellous.

...but I digress. As you were.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

You're only digressing from a digression of a digression of the original topic.

Something about Welnix buggering off and it being made into a book by Sven Hassel. I think.

How long do you think we can keep this going before Termy_X gets the mods to shut this thread down?

Measured comments from Gareth, what the first interview should have been.

Now the interest will be who the 'front runners' are for the coach, and who gets a contract for next season.

While the Mariners v Wanderers play

Is there such a thing as excellence in football.

We have the Football School of Excellence, a "pathway" (which is good/ excellent).

"An excellent system in supplying players to play at the high level".

A fan is a fan.

So Terry can be replaced; Ricki can be replaced; but Welnix can't be replaced? What's Colin Giltrap doing these days?
No one is irreplaceable, but no one is exactly lining up to invest more money into the team. He may be a PR disaster waiting to happen, but he is at least willing to put his own money into the club to keep it going.

is there a way to find out how much exactly each owner is putting into the club? would be interesting

They would all end up dying horribly, the cover would have a picture of Gareth with a million bullet holes in him in lying in an icy rotting foxhole surrounded by  burnt out tanks and razorwire.

RIP Sven

It could be called "Balls of Terror", "The Bloody Road to the Finals", "Liquidate Cats"  or "Court Marshal of Ricki Herbert"

We did it at the game, and Gareth laughed, and shook his head.

We did it again at Craft after the game when Gareth and Rob arrived, and he smiled, and rolled his eyes.

I had a good chat with Gareth at Craft, and amongst many things we talked about we talked about the whole cat saga... he said he could not believe the amount of international coverage it has got. I think he said he's done FOURTY-THREE interviews for outside of New Zealand.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

He mentioned a new fitness coach recently appointed around 11 minutes or so. Who is this and how good is he? And can anyone to refer me to a thread or article where I can find said information and more? Cheers

Ed views this gig as easy (judging by the interviews he has given) To be fair, with his experience, its a bit of a blessing he is available and I really hope a few players come back in much better shape

Driving down lower Vivian St today, Jnr Jnr notices a building (right side) with large "Wellington Phoenix" sign and logo on the second floor.  Is this the Nix HQ now?

With the amount of traffic that road gets, hopefully they can install some advertising on the side of the building.
