A sell out - lets not jump the boat ( the place will only sellour for rwc2011). But its great that in a province so proudly one-eyed and Canterbury Rugby focused, that the first game at the completed stadium is Football.
Even weirder that it will be a yellow & black team, not a red & black team that we will be supporting.
cant wait - And a great crowd turnout will happen.

To be fair, many people have been turned off by Rugby. The Air NZ Cup only attracted a crowd of 11k which Tony P said he wanted to beat also, I was at Lancaster Park when Manawatu came & there was just as many Turbos fans as Canterbury ones, ditto in the Southland game. Even many Rugby players prefer to watch League.

Disappointing not to get any figures from Ticketek, been told many clubs got given tickets, so could be a good turn out. Anyway going in a group of 5. Trying to get more people to go but may depend on what the forecast is.

Dear James,

Thank you for your email.

Unfortunately we are unable to comment on ticket sales, however please note that while only the Dean Stand is available for purchase online, tickets for the Hadlee and Tui stands are available for purchase from Ticketek outlets, and through our call centre on 0800 TICKETEK (0800 842538).

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Sounds good if the Tui and Paddles are now opened
The Tui stand should have been designated the Fever Zone right from day 1. It is by far the best part of the ground, despite being uncovered.
the tui stand may have been best for the YF zone but don't know how you can say it is teh best part of the ground considering we havent been able to check the ground out with the new stand.  It might be best for embankment similarities.
Open day at AMI Stadiam tomorrow - 10 to 4pm

Very true, although I think it'll be hard to beat that atmosphere unless the Tui stand gets knocked over, or they put better alcohol access in another area. I haven't been into town for probably close to 2 years, how much work are they doing to the stadium exactly?

Might have changed a bit since the last time I was there as well. I think it was when Marlborough took the shield in '73.

No hang on, I saw us beat the Aussies in Cricket in '74.

I know, I know, its serious!

no - my point is that Mr Incredible in previous post's has been miserable about the game being held in ChCh and then dismisses what promises to be an excellent turnout as due to a novelty factor.
Why not just be happy for the Phoenix that the club has this support down here.
Sure - if 13 games were played here in one year the crowds would not potentially be as big as the one coming up but lets celebrate it. It will certainly warrant the clubs decision to come down here and make it more likely to be repeated.
Please do not dismiss the support the club has here.

The old number 1,2 & 3 stands demolished and replaced with one big one that looks almost identical t the Paul Kelly Stand. No fences around the arena, one con-course. Grass areas on the outside . Renovation fully complete - looks good but I guess can only tell for sure once you're in there watching a game

Wicked, will they be demolishing the Tui stand for the Rugby World Cup?

Also, if weather keeps up like this on Jan 30 I propose this song..

Oh Canterbury (Oh Canterbury),
Is wonderful (Is Wonderful),
Oh Canterbury is wonderful,
We've got your wind, your rain and your Phoenix,
Oh Canterbury is wonderful!

Sorry, so all stands are now open?  I thought only one was open.
Assuming you're wrong and only one stand is open, if it sells out would they open another stand?

How many yellowfever from Wellington will actually be going?  Enough to have good singing or will it be an embarassing shambles?  Either way I'm keen.

I've got 8-10 people coming and I've convinced my manager to go as well.  Should be awesome.

I'm coming down  and I hope its the same embarassing shambles it always is!!

Yes there is a fever zone. I got my Yellow Fever tickets yesterday - they say Yellow Fever and entrance "gate L Lismore"

Watching the horror game last night, heard the commentators say that ticket sales for the chch game is good. anyone confirm or deny the rumours

I can confirm - just been to ticketek to pick up my tickets that I ordered online. Gent next to me asked for tickets and yf zone - sold out. Then was told only 8 left in the Deans Stand. Now selling in the Hadlee Stand and I guess will sell in the TUi stand once Hadlee Stand tickets sold, Great Stuff.

I think it's good that the YF Zone will be in the main stand - that way the yf'ers will hopefully get the whole crowd in the stand involved creating a great atmosphere

tbh, we're not across this one at all.  It's with the stadium.  Pretty sure those with season tickets in the zone can get zone tickets still.  All ticketing does seem to be GA and you would hpe that security and things will allow people to set up wherever they want.

Personally I have no idea of the stadium or it's layout so I can't make any suggestions.,  I will try and figure out what corner we will aim for later in the week and post here.  Hopefully at the same time as BigDunc comes back to me on pubs.

Go for Tui or Hadlee stand, both directly behind the goal line.

More likely Hadlee is closer to the pub we'll be at if the pub is in town.

Hey Hard News
since you are down here early on in the week, how about a get together at the YF PUB with The CHCH YF'ers some night during the week? If you are here on Tuesday, that night would be ideal since the Nix are playing?

Tuesday will be ideal, then you'll have Wedensday to Friday to redeem your self.
If you need a lift anywhere let me know.

Even so, the general admission to that stand doesn't mean alot. Well i'd advise getting early to get into the "Fever zone" in  GATE L

So if there is 13000 odd tix sold, and no seat numbers, therefore when everyone arrives it is going to be a nightmare getting seats with mates.

Not that it will worry me as I haven't got mine yet, so I'll be somewhere else! Hope they open up the PK stand as Tui and Hadlee are behind the goals.

We should all find a pub to watch the Melbourne game.  All the Chch nix fans and anybody down early from that other place up north.  Anybody here keen?  Bard on Avon?

Edit: And if we play like arse down here it's going to be very bad for the club.  Especially after last time.
