Dolares, it is not often I agree with you but you are spot on. There is something rotten at the Phoenix and someone must know what it is

rodi rojas says he hopes yellow fever understand. Understand what? I hope he is willing to go on the record and explain exactly why he has advised his client to leave the club.

ps: the two of them can go f**k themselves - and that's on the record unlike anything either of them will ever say.

It seems he's on his way.  Amazingly disappointed.  I just don't get the reason behind it.  His old man says they'll look at where the best opportunities lie for his son on the field.... hello, he's guaranteed a spot playing for the All Whites manager week in week out at the age of 19 or 20.

To me the biggest kick in the teeth would be to the Yellow Fever.  This talk about them understanding... understanding what?  You've got apparently the best financial offer here, guaranteed football, coaching from the All Whites manager, and you're going over the ditch to an Australian A-League club?  What's not to understand, pal?  Your son was given a chance off the back of the Yellow Fever.

without the fever he'd be another snotty nosed kid playing in the NZFC.

... I want to write something sarcastic in response to this.  But I will be good, for once (don't get used to it).

Other A-League clubs signing NZ footballers helps NZ football develop (assuming that they get game time).  Kosta can be picked for the AWs while playing in Brisbane.  Marco can be picked for the AWs if he goes to play in Melbourne.

This is bad news on a club level, not necessarily on a national level.

I don't think he'll develop in Melbourne any more than here thats all, at least no more than with the national coach who will be picking him. Now he's just givin ricki a load of sour grapes to chew on and an excuse to hold a grudge. I wouldn't care if he went overseas. I get that's how people improve, but jumping sideways clubs isnt. (I guess that's my interpretation of it)

My reasoning sans sarcasm anyway.

Moss and Kosta could be justified in leaving. Wee mac and Brockie were never at the phoenix. Smeltz is older and looking after Mrs Smeltz and went to an expansion team. Sure playing in aussie helps, but he was playing there every 2nd week anyway already under his national coach.I don't see the reason here. Time will heal it though.

f**king victory :/

Merrick will play him out of position, lose patience with him, and then let him go to Heart.

Time to start recruiting from Eastern Europe instead of South America!

Just terribly disappointed. Like the rest of you, would understand and support a move away into a better league to a team which would support and develop him, but to move to the Victory..

We made you Marco.

Edit - However would still support him with all my heart should he be selected for All Whites!

I've had a late night/early morning (watching our former keeper debut for Dortmund against Bayern!!), so I'm a bit fuzzy, but why do you guys hate us again?

Thinks he runs the place, perhaps we should get rid of him.

Lets face it he's probably going to get second seasons jitters/marked out of games.

I guess that this topic is still unofficial. I had a bad feeling that Marco would leave.
However as much as I am disappointed I wish him well.
Although I have only seen him play a dozen games(or less) I was immediately impressed with his ability. I have not seen anyone with this talent for a very long time. I also understand that the Nix fans were responsible for his chance to show his skills, and are understandably gutted. I am also disgusted at some of the remarks this morning. This is his livelihood we are talking about. He knows what he means to the club. If he stayed and got so bably injured that he could no longer play, would all his critics keep paying his wages until he reaches retirement age?
It is very disappointing but not life changing, and I for one will still look forward to watching him play and hope he keeps improving, not only for himself but for the AW.
For those that think Ricki won't pick him for international duty because of the Nix, I can tell you that he is not that petty and also why cut off your nose to spite your face.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Seems to me that we were never in with a chance of retaining Rojas. Regarding the Sunday Star Times article im not sure that Marco is an attacking central midfielder though

Well, we practically ended Karl Dodd's career.  But I'm pretty sure that wasn't on purpose.

Nah.  The kid will get a really hard time from the crowd, and certainly won't be treated with any deference on the field, but there's no need to maim him.

If it was just about his future and money in the bank as you suggest then why move if we are reportedly tabling the best offer? If he wants to go all the best to him in the future.

I'm not with detoxin, but if I gave my partner everything I ever had and first chance to jump ship she ran off to someone richer better looking I'd be pretty pissed. 20 legend2011-02-27 16:33:41

As for injuring him, kind of f**ks the All Whites doesn't it?
