Pretty pathetic, to be honest. Meh. I didn't hear any excuses from Rafa today though, except that we just played too sh*te, gave the ball away FAR too easily and played absolutely no football.
Sickening to watch though! Utterly dreadful. This season somehow just gets worse and worse.
1 year ago to the week, we beat Madrid 4-0 and smashed United 1-4 at their own place.
gotta feel for you,how is it you can more than match teams like United, Chelski and the ar$e but stuff up at lowly Wigan and such like is that a mental thing not getting up for those sort of games or do you guys drop down to their style of play ??

Haha, yeah, it does. I sent a big, long, depressed txt to many of my friends yesterday about this season and all that. And I was saying how the belief and excitement of last season is completely gone; replaced with the small hope for a miracle to get Top Four and almost dread for having to watch us play every week!
Yeah. To be honest, there have been two Perennial strugglers Liverpools this season. One which can get the result- albeit not playing well by any stretch of the imagination. The second is what reared its head against Wigan. And Pompey. And Sunderland. And Lyon. And Fiorentina. And Spurs. And Villa. Etc.
I actually don't know what it is.

It's Rafa mate. C'mon even you have to see it now, it's blindingly obvious. How can a team that was only 4 pts off the top last year, scored the most, had the highest goal difference and played several decent teams off the park all of a sudden turn into a side who struggle to eek out results against the worst of teams and have an abysmal away record?
Rafa didn't inherit this squad. If he did he may, just may, get some respite. He built his squad, took them as high as they could go (performance wise) last season and now they're on the way back down again.
I honestly think you just need a fresh start.
Three for me, and two for them.

Yeah, my blinkers are starting to fall off. Where I could only see Rafa leading before it's time to at least start looking for some other options. The problem right now is who would replace him? King Kenny for another shot? We need someone like him or Shankley to bring some 'Pool pride back to the team.

Mourinho!!

I actually think Mourinho would do great things for us.
The problem is though that our crisis runs deeper than Manager issues at the moment. A true fresh start would require Hicks and Gillett to GTFO as well, or (much as I hate to admit it) splash a wad of cash around.
I don't trust Rafa when it comes to transfers anymore, among many, many other things.
Bummed as he couldn't stop the rot, but the guys number is up...

Mourinho
What?! Why on earth would he come to us? Look! You get a team that hardly is up to getting top four, no money to spend and all sorts of debt problems! He won the title with Chelsea becasue he got so much money. And he gets an open cheque book at Inter too. Plus, he's an utter Twit. No, not Mourinho. Del Bosque... Hmmm. I'm not entirely convinced either, to be honest.

Yeah. But also, how can professional footballers not pass a ball 10 yards? Look, Rafa has to accept the blame. Even I'll acknowledge that. But those players have been utter sh*te for him or for whatever reason.
Agree that we peaked last year (and it still wasn't enough). I just think that if we get a new manager in, then it's another 5 years before we could even possibly challenge for the title; and that's hoping that we could actually improve and not spiral down.
I just so badly want Rafa to succeed to f**k over all the doubters. I genuinely believed it would happen after last season....
If Rafa was sacked, I couldn't argue with it. We have simply been awful all season. But I want him to walk through the storm.

We are a team who has little money and rely on making fourth place for the extra income champs league brings in. I don't think we will finish fourth this year and the ongoing results from this will likely be that we will struggle to compete over the next few years.
I think we need a manager who is a motivator rather than a strategist. Martin O'Neill or McLeish have done awesome things with smaller budgets. Rafa seems to have spent huge amount of $$ on players and then doesn't back them?
I don't think it takes 5 years to rebuild Perennial strugglers Liverpool because we do have some quality, something is just a little wrong.
Here is my last thought i was thinking about yesterday........sell Stevie G! He's got 2 years left max and we could prob get 40million for him? take the money and run and use it to buy 2-3 young fellows same as Arse did with Fabregas.........(prepares for abuse).

@ El Nino:
I know what your saying, it'd be great to see Rafa come through this and take us back to the top but you don't always get that fairy tale ending. I'm with him until the end of the season, I see no point in disrupting the team further now. Let's just try and salvage some pride and get a placing in Europa. Let's also start planning for a new gaffer and let Rafa head off to Juve.TheKop2010-03-11 08:22:48

Can we sell Babel first?

And can we trust Rafa to spend that 40 mill we get for stevie on the right young talents? As well as nuture them correctly so the might be handy enough to get in the first team? IMO if babel went to arsenal instead of 'pool he would have turned out a far different player.

Selling Stevie? Holy f**k. Look, he's been awful this season, he's probably more worried about the World Cup right now and he's getting pissed at playing with sh*t players, but come on. Get a grip. f**king hell. Always, I say the same. You know what Atletico did? Sold Torres, brought in a new manager and gave him all the funds. Look where they are now. Beneath Getafe for f**ks sake.
"On the right young talents"? We would have got players like Dani Alves and Simao for 12 million each, but the board wouldn't/couldn't pay it. So instead, Rafa has to find players like Pacheco and make do with that. In my opinion, if Torres had gone to Arsenal instead of Perennial strugglers Liverpool, he wouldn't be half the player he is today.
Okay, it's aggressive, but I have both feet firmly in the Rafa camp!!

Nino i've always liked you and respected your views but tbh you're starting to sound more and more like Perennial strugglers Perennial strugglers Liverpool's version of foal.
Harsh! Just trying to add SOME perspective and argument to the general "Sack Rafa" feeling. That's all. I don't entirely believe everything I say, and as I said earlier, if Rafa was sacked, I couldn't argue with it. But I feel somebody has to offer that view because it's pretty unfair on him. Meh.

I agree about torres, but I wasn't talking about him. He would have been a success at almost any club we were just lucky enough that he's always loved 'pool and always wanted to go there. I was talking about Babel and how pants we are at nurturing "youth". I still stand by my statement that if babel went to arsenal he would have come out a far better player. The last player to come from the youth set up at and make themselves a 1st team regular was who? Jamie? Stevie? Insua is on the borderline
