Qualify straight to Europa I'm pretty sure. Like Birmingham did this year, which I think actually meant that we missed out on the Europa league, which we would have qualified for had Arsenal won the Carling cup, by virtue of them already having qualified for the Champions league.

Well happy with that result, great turn around after last weeks game. But the job is only half done! they will give us a game at anfield i'm sure!
Bring on stoke this weekend we owe them a game after the away game we had against them!

Happy with result but Citeh were sh*t and were ripe for a damn good rogering; not sure about the settle for 1-0; still , a win's a win.
If Spearo's out for a bit , who is next in line for that DM role? (damn we miss Lucas). Options-Carragher ( Jr's choice)? Adam ( would make me a bit nervous)? Coady ( too raw?) Go to the market?

Terrible game to watch as a neutral but you got the result you were after.
I on the other hand loved it. It's been a while since we've played like that. Not pretty but it's how you get through to finals football and at this stage a safety ticket to Europe.
Hope Spearing is ok, he's starting to look real good in the midfield. Nothing flashy just gets the job done. Also Hendo's got the potential to be very good, really warming to his play. Good work ethic and with Gerrard alongside will learn a heap.
On that note, great to see Stevie with a contract extension and future ambassadorial role. Steven Gerrard Gerrard...
Not a lot happening on the transfer front for us, very quiet...

Another stunning draw at home.....I really to criticize the team selection here. If there are two games a season that carroll should be dusted off wheeled out for it should be stoke home and away. Carroll for such a big guy does not attack the ball and put himself about nearly as well as he should. He always seems to be flat footed hanging around the back post soo frustrating!
It's not rocket science to see what some clubs are going to do when they come to anfield now as they know we are lacking a cutting edge in the final third so they just crowd us out, thats why we are better on the road as the home side has to come out and play leaving space for us to play thru them.
Playing Kuyt up top alone basically was quite possibly the worst plan ever. He is not the type of player to lead the line, he drops off into space looking to set others up. How often did we have no players up top first half was way to easy for the stoke back line!
End rant

Fair dos to Stoke- came for a point , left with a point.
Rubbish game- rubbish result.
Kenny got this one wrong- some of the passing was spectacular ( Adam springs to mind) but in the final third we were pants.Several times , first half esp , I saw Gerro on the right , down to the touchline , looking up for a cross and there was NO red shirt ibn the area.Just bollocks.
Woud have like to see Shelvey on for a while. He has an attacking mindset and may have been able to pick a lock.
Kuyt- love you man but sh*t you should have scored!!
Coates did Ok I thought.

Totally agree. We started with 5 midfielders (well 4 plus Kuyt) and 5 defenders. I would have thought that would have been the perfect game for Carroll. Even without Carroll, why have Carra, Skrtel and Coates? Surely we should have started more attacking at home against Stoke.

Stoke played the same formation and basically offered nothing on attack. Very frustrating.
On another note, did any see that article about the amount that we are topping up J Cole and Poulsens wages? Ridiculous, I think it equates to approx $2 mill a year on those 2 alone

You lads have summed it all up really. I couldn't believe how many times I was screaming at the telly "where is everybody?!" when attacking. There was one cross from Johno with 4 stoke defenders and not one LFC player in the box. I think Hendo arrived at the top of the box just as the ball flew past!
What I find so frustrating is that we're *nearly* there. We have a decent squad, let's not kid ourselves after the likes of Konchesky & Pouslon graced Anfield. Wwe're not near the calibre of times gone past but we're laying a good foundation.
Our backs are solid. We've been crying out for a defensive wall for a while and now we have one. Pepe: Say no more. Agger & Skrtl have stepped up, they're quality. Johnson & Enrique are among the leaders in the EPL for their positions with solid bench in the likes of Kelly, Coates and Carra.
Midfield, when fit, is building into a class outfit. Lucas: Boss. Tragic injury halfway through the season because he's just added himself into an elite class of player. Add Gerrard and the improving talents of Hendo & Spearing with the support of Adam we're heading in the right direction.
Now we start to slip a 'little'. Downing's not flash by any stretch of the means but if you look at the stats he's doing what we bought him for. He's created the most opportunities for the team but sadly hardly any have been converted. Bellamy and Maxi are top but we only see them every other game. Bellamy due to monitoring his fitness and Maxi I can't imagine why we haven't used more.
Suarez is a monster. No question but he's proving his talents are in the creation not the finishing and it hasn't worked with him up front. Throw in a bunch of suspensions (whether deserved or not) it has an affect. Carroll drives me bonkers. I really like him, think he's got oodles of talent but struggles to continually apply himself. He's big, he's hard, he should be terrorising defenders in the box with his size alone but sometimes he looks like his age. Just a young pup trying to stay out of peoples way and that often means he's missing in the box. There were glimpses of what he can do against stoke when he started to bully himself around the defenders. Huth was forced to strike back and we could have got a penalty. Still there were times he was too deep.
What am I trying to say? We're effectively 6 months into a rebuild. Most areas have seen improvements and we're a damn sight better off than this time last year but there is still work to be done. We're a few points off 4th and my frustration is more about being so close but still a tad too far. Can understand why Kenny may not feel we need to buy this window but converting these chances and getting into Europe next season is a must. A couple of attacking signings and we'll almost be there. Keep the faith team.
Fully fit team could be.

That's not a bad line up at all but for the sake of dreaming lets add the likes of a Hazard, Cavani, Podolski, De Jong, Texeira we immediately hit a different gear.
Let's also take all our home draws. Convert 4 that should have been wins (Nor, Swans, Wigan, Stoke) that's 8 points lost.
43 points would have us 4th. 3 more that CFC and 3 less THFC. Frustratingly close.

I'm not taking a dig, but this is odd. When Carroll was playing in black-and-white he always put himself about. Still coming back from injury? Homesick?

back! been working too much to get on here lately, just been flat out
but will try and get on here a bit more frequently. great stuff in the cup, but job only half done. still a long way to go yet. would absolutely love a final, not gonna lie. hopefully we can knock United out of the FA Cup. Not pleased with that tie tbh.

Racism charge is an absolute shambles. Embarassing from start to finish and really feel for Suarez. Makes me genuinely sick and I didn't smile for weeks after it all.
That dickhead in the Oldham game as well
awful. But the way the club- particularly Kenny- has been treated throughout this is awful as well. You would've thought it was a large section of the fan base- not one complete tool.

Great stuff from Bellamy in the Newcastle game, and lovely to see Stevie G back. What a player. Stoke game was awful, and City game in the league wasn't pretty, although think the difference in finishing was clear to see. if only Downing had scored...
Defence has been outstanding too. Agger and Skrtel (at last!) flanked by two absolutely class full backs, and Reina behind them. love it. Coates impressed me yesterday too, like him a lot. And Carra has a lot of experience too.
But good post above by Kop, and agree especially about the rebuilding part. All part of a process, and we're getting there.
But hope you've all had a good new year and Chrimbo!

I just think it's confidence, and pressure from the supporters. Thought it was interesting the goal he got against oldham. He used to get goals like that for newcastle but he has never really attempted them for liverpool as perhaps he is too scared of getting the groans from the crowd so he just passes it on to someone else. Looks like he needs an arm around him and some love tbh!

Boooo no more Adidas
Adidas CEO Herbert Hainer has confirmed that the sports manufacturers 18-year relationship with Liverpool FC will come to an end this summer.
It has been widely reported that Liverpool have signed a new deal with US based Warrior Sports, a subsidiary of New Balance Sports. We reported last week that the company had recently launched their Warrior Football website.

Love Adidas but the money is good and the fact they are part of New Balance who now sponsor the Red Sox shows a real commitment of Fenway to tie all their interests together and get some great deals going. Mock of of a potential kit.....looks ok, dunno about the club crest though, visially it looks good but too different from where it is currently?

Smells like sour grapes from Adidas there. No doubt they wanted our business and Warrior out bid them. Good business that from FSG, building the profile through the back of the Red Sox in the states. Sounds like we've got control of the non playing gear too so maybe an opportunity for another sponsor to make that?
Another sensible move from FSG too with the Stadium:
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/liverpool/9019171/Liverpool-opt-for-original-Stanley-Park-stadium-plan-to-replace-Anfield-after-rejecting-futuristic-design.html
Using H&G design would be costly, creating new plans would be just as costly too both in terms of monetary and time. No doubt the original plans can be improved a bit within their current consent. It'll be interesting to see who they get to sponsor it. Standard Chartered a front runner?

Any ideas who the other striker may be from Grobbelaars comments? I'm guessing David Texiera as one.

Yep , saw that one too TK.Is that the fella from Real? Smells a bit like his agent flogging him around in the window rather than a genuine option.
I've had a few wines tonight so excuse the following.
Just thinking: Carroll back to Newcastle for 10M ( net loss , 25M).
Torres back from Chelski for 20M ( net gain 35M). Front options Suarez , Torres , Bellars with 10M left over .
Won't happen , I know .Just saying , is all.Cheers fellas , need more wines I think.

Might need a few wines myself to agree to that!

Sounds like it's the first design approved by FSG. End of the day I don't really mind, as long I get to go and watch a game of footy there one day!
So, Nolan Roux has signed for Lille. ITK's going into over drive now about Moussa Sow moving on. Not entirely sure I'd want him but if we swap him for Cole who can quite frankly stay in France sipping his bordeaux I'd be happy.
I imagine Sow's in a similar category to Carroll?
Would rather chase Cavani...
