Q. There is talk of us targeting the best young English talent this summer - is that the strategy?

Yes and no. It's not because a player is English and young that we are going to go for him. We go for a player because he ticks all the boxes. It's what we need at this time in this window. Blackburn want $25m and rumour has it that LFC have jumped in again bidding around $19m. ManU will have to front up some more cash now if they want him. Smooth operating Mr Comolli. Hope it's true. Utd and Blackburn have definitely hit the wall over the sale price. Blackburn want a lot more for him so it wouldn't surprise me if it's true that we've upped our bid. FSG don't mind paying over the odds for young talent, they've proved that already. Will Utd be prepared to do the same?

Believe so. But you can't go to a team if they can't/won't pay the price. How badly does the player to go to Utd and how badly do Utd want the player? Time will tell I guess...

Dalglish would do well to cast those two off and free up the wage budget a little. Then again no one would pay those wages for either so they would have to both take significant pay cuts. Could be the best bit of business you lot do all summer if he pulls it off.

FSG are big on lowering the wage bill from what I hear too, so these would be the type of players you'd want to get rid of. I mean, surely Pacheco couldn't do worse than Joe Cole.
