Nah footy season is about to start.. over 8,000 for a pre season warm up game in Footscray for the Western Bulldogs Bombers game
:D

RR
Has everyone in Melbourne gone away for the weekend? Between the 3 games in Melbourne last night & today, they might struggle to get over 30k combined.

0-0 in City/Glory

Was gonna say 25k in my original post but thought, nah that is too low. Turns out it wouldn't have been.

I wonder how many of the 3862 at WU v Burger Kingz were Nix fans there to support Western?
about 1 year ago · edited about 1 year ago · History
So a combined 17,677 fans at the 3 games in Melbourne. That is awfully poor.

Just as well the APL has a full house in Aotearoa this weekend to sell to their broadcasters/sponsors. Adelaide also getting healthy crowds this season.

The form book would make you think the Jets should do this easily tonight. The Roar have a very good record away the Jets tho. For our sake, hopefully the Roar get up.

The roar away kit with orange shorts, white socks and blue tops looks like some fast food franchise uniform

Auckland will rise once more

Geez, do the Roar not practice defending during the week? 1-0

2-0. The Roar are garbage.

Woof. O'Shea with a peach of a free kick. 2-1

Looking at the replays, I think that was more bad Keeping than anything else. 2-1

Why didn't we get this Roar team 😒

We didn't put them under pressure, Do that & they fold like deck chairs.

VAR confirms the goal, 3-1

We are closer in points to Brisbane on the table -13 points ahead of them but 17 behind Antagonists FC

I think if adelaide lose tonight and Auckland win next week then we can probably make the call that AFC have won the premiership. They are too solid for the wheels to fall off.

Adelaide losing 1-0

How do you reckon your Eastern Subs would have gone v today's Adelaide or AuckFC at, say, Newmarket Pk Leggy? Honest question.

That last minute 2-2 in Adelaide looks almost season defining for both teams.

Auckland have won 4 in a row since then, Adelaide are heading for their third loss in four games in the same period.

Adelaide would probably still be top if they held on to win that.

Three for me, and two for them.

No possible way to compare.

Adelaide lost a starting CB (Panagiotis Kikianis) to the Aussie u20's tournament & regular minute getters Yull & Jovanovic. That disruption hasn't helped their form.

e.g. just for fun...
5th minute Bill de Graaf climbs all over Tommy Smith to nod in number 1. Then Ray Mears skins Rogerson to side foot in no.2. Followed by Leggy ripping down the wing, nutmegging Sakai, turning inside and beating Pijnaker & Smith with a triple reverse Cruyff turn then (doing everything Gillion has failed to do) sliding a pinpoint pass to a startled P Rennell who sidefoots in to make it 3 0 to Suburbs after only 15 minutes, the team running rampant, playing like a dream. After which the superior fitness not to say physicality not to say financial inducements of AFC/Adelaide began to tell. Even the great Tom McNab's 98 yr-old legs began to fail. Their guest player, the 3 yr-old prodigy Wynton Rufer, came on but was unable to do little more than dribble to excess. Finally the A-League champs ran out victors by 7 goals to 3 in front of an enthralled Newmarket Park.

Is there any footage of Leggy playing anywhere? Let us young and ignorant ones see the good old days if there is!

It's almost like when you play high intensity attacking football you score goals and the game is great to watch.

If they can get 7 today, does that make last week not look so bad?...

Give them the premiers plate already.

Just a very good side. Absolutely relentless.

Ooh that hurt 😮‍💨

It's nice to see a team full of kiwis starting dominating a league. Great for football in this country

The best team in the league. Unless they get some bad injuries, I just don't see them being beaten at home again - so that means they get the toilet seat.

Do they take their finals games to Eden Park?

I reckon the regular game going fans would prefer it to stay at Mt Smart, they've turned it into a fortress and I don't know if you'd want to give that up for the most important games of the season.

They could surely chuck up a temporary scaffolding type stand on the north side for Finals football to get the capacity up over 30,000

The Board prefer a playground. Don't want to upset the kiddies. It's an American thing apparently.
