I would replace Vinnie Lia or Manny with a creative midfielder. It's what we're missing and what has set Melbourne and Sydney (with Corica) apart from the rest of the teams in the competition. Adelaide look like they have found a good one in Flores.

Maybe Ifill has a mate who wants to come over..

Would take Nicky Carle tbh.

not happy with Manny's turn to skin the defender and shoot or all his one-twos into the box or the two assists he's come up with in recent weeks?

So you are now comparing Manny to Hernandez/Corica? Manny does his job well - he closes down players better than anyone in the team - but he is not a creative midfielder. Countless times he (or Lia for that matter) tried to make short passes in midfield and lost it. He does have a good cross on him though.

Dont shoot me down (kapow kapow) but I liked the way Manny has got into good positions in the last few games and am wondering how he would go moving a bit further up the park.

Good cross as you say Valeo, and his shot was on target on Sunday, (how many times have we seen them sprayed all over the place from other midfielders)  plus I think I recall him slipping a few good passes in.

Lia did the poorest passing last week

Totally depends how Ricki wants to play. With Lia and Manny being really good in closing down opposition space it allows Brown to charge up and get into the 6 yard box. They are both decent enough to maintain possession and switch play to our wings which is our strength. They also give an option for passes out from defence, generally speaking as soon as wet get possession Brown is getting forward and Manny/Lia are setting up play from midfield. It works for us. Say we get a really good AM it may mean that Brown gets benched as I rate Manny and Lia as more constructive midfielders and basically equally destructive midfielders as Brown, just not as good in the air or box.

I think it is the only thing we are missing from our sqaud (other than cover in a few areas) is a player in the like Corica Hernandez or Miller to operate in the area between halfway and the edge of the attcking penalty area. I tjhink theses three play that role better than any other in the league and non of them are what you would call athletes.

Who would I keep? I think I'd take McKain. Reddy has been ridiculously good for us, but Pasty does a good enough job. In losing McKain, yes we have a good replacement in Siggy, but lose Siggy/Dura (more likely than Pasty)- then we really are a bit stuffed for a CB. I'm sure Manny could fill it for a game or two, but not for any length of time.

Really tough question though, fortunately the world doesn't operate like that (unless both are being money hungry bastards).

The two I'd pick from that list would be Simon Colosimo and Serginho van Dijk.  Both absolutely class players.  Colosimo and Durante in central defence would be great.  I'd take Colosimo over McKain even though he looks like a dinosaur.

Why haven't we re-signed McKain! ..ah makes me nervous. From that list, Jamieson or Payne please ..even Colosimo but thatd be unlikely

Payne would be a good youth option..

Thing is if we got Colosimo (not that it's likely) and we retained McKain (I know the two are even more unlikely) then we'd have 2 quality defenders on the bench and one of them would, invariably, be Siggy.

If you read article on front page this would seem a bit contradictory !!!!!!!!!!

Whose right or are they all playing along for a story ???? or has someone got a bit of old sump oil.

I know I'm dreaming. But maybe in a few years? Why not. The leagues only getting better. And Robbie Fowler has come here. So why not

Wouldn't mind Song tbh. Think he's one of the better Jets players and would be better than Diego.

Yeah, has trials organised in France and has said that if it doesnt work out in europe, he will most likely be back at newcastle.

From the list of players not contracted for next season i think these are worth looking at:
Jamieson, Barbiero and Angulo (Fgn)

And depending on u21 players:
Payne and Naidovski

Jamieson rumoured to go to Heart

TBH, i dont really think it is realistic that Jamieson would want to come here since we already have decent LB, but a young up and comer would be great to push lochy.

I'm not always a fan, but Hoggy.  5th best team in the world, made the WCC team of the touunament, youngest in the olumpic squad, plenty of time training with the Phoenix.

Reddy's gone. Worst kept 'secret' in A-league football right now.

I heard on a decent but sort of scratchy source that Ferrante may indeed stay and Mulligan will head to State League in Aussie.

Yea definitely worth a blast as we do need better cover for Loch imo. Shown up when he was rested for those couple of games. Be good to chuck another kiwi in there too of course.

I remember saying this an age ago and you laughed at me : )

I think he has excellent potential, and being an amatuer at the moment he wouldn't ask for a large salary which would leave more room to resign McKain or chase other better "expensive" targets.

Ferrante's a good squad player. If we have a youth team he would be a good old hand to be teach some youngsters(obviously not to shoot though).

Hogg would be good cover for LB (as we have none), but he's a complete mental, at nationals couple years ago he elbowed an opposition coach.
