I emphasise with Midfielder and I don't want the Salties to go under. However, Midfielder did troll the heck out of us during the McGlinchey debacle, so for him (?) to be hurt over some mild trolling about crowd numbers seems a bit on the nose.

Midfielder did make a valid point about our poor media coverage of A-League on NZ TV. They talk up a T20 Georgie Pie cricket game as if it was The Ashes, but the bare "coupla hunnerd"  souls that watched the recent T20 game was less than 10% of the regular turnout for The Nix.  At least the printed press coverage (such as it is) does show some more interest, but the TV media rate as less important than an EPL game played at the other end of the world.

In the end, whose job should it be though (to get our local TV media involved)?  HAL? FFA? NZF? Welnix?

Where does Charlesworth live if not the Central Coast?

I find the situation at CCM strange, they were struggling to make payroll, and were making losses so they decided to borrow heavily and build a five a side football and hotel complex (taking a massive punt), with the idea that being that the profits from that would fund the main team and therefore they wouldn't be so reliant on the owners, then the complex wasn't as successful as hoped, the club was bailed out by part owner Charlesworth, and Football NSW took over the facility? Is that about it? Why would Charlesworth want to take over a club that has always struggled and is based in a city that is not his home?

Tis easy we have under construction with phase 1 completed a Centre of Excellence with 25 million of government funding with more promised on land sold to the Mariners well below its real value...

He used to live on Sydney's North Shore for about six months a year ... today he is back mainly in London and Singapore with about 2 to 2 and a bit months in Ausytalia...

Not really sure if the coverage is that bad on sky tbf. We get 95% of the games live plus plenty of replays and highlights shows.  Games that are not live are shown delayed. Be interesting  to see how many mins per week are A League. Yes we all have a grizzle when a game is delayed but when nix aren't  playing matches hardly cause skys ratings to go through  the  roof

And to be fair I think this season's Sky coverage is markedly better than previous seasons, and that the previous discussion was largely based on previous season's sky coverage reality...

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

I think Sky's coverage is fine (although it would be nice if we had a bit more analysis after the games), it's the 6 o'clock news which really don't seem to pay any attention to the Nix, let alone any other A League- related stories.

Pffft. If you don't like Auckland's weather, wait 10 minutes. As opposed to Wellington's grey drizzle for days on end...

This was actually my point, but I may have got my mixed metaphores muddled.

I have no issue with the SKY coverage of the games.

I do have a real problem with the 6pm mainstream TV news, and the Radio New Zealand news bulletins. Both TV3, TVNZ and the National Radio seem to think football is something that is played in England only. In their prime time 6pm news, they will rather report on a minor sport event in NZ that attracts maybe dozens (but not even hundreds) of spectators, but not on the Nix which regularly gets 6-8K paying patrons.

I am talking about a "lack of visibility" problem for our club in the national sporting landscape.

So who should knock on their doors to discuss coverage, if not Welnix?  It is not an FFA issue, as they have an agreement with SKY, which as many pointed out works OK at the moment.

Yeah it's a tough one. I think the Dom has been pretty good with Nix coverage so far this season at least - if only tv news would follow.

I always compare us to the Breakers, who play a sport which is less popular in NZ but who seem to get heaps of mainstream news coverage. I suspect it's a combo of them winning consistently for a few seasons, and the fact that to the established sports media basketball is not seen as competing with rugby for the souls of the youth.

No, no. TVNZ have been with the Nix since the beginning.  They told us this in 2010 when we reached the play-offs/semi-final.

Breakers also leverage on being a cool sport, which despite being non contact isn't full of pansies like football is.

Yeah, and unlike those dirty cheating football-playing eurotrash, basketballers would never act like they've been fouled when they haven't.

Given that Westpac Stadium is also known as "The Cake Tin" and  "Ring Of Fire"  should we have a name for Eden Park?

Maybe "Box Of Jaffas"   or  "The A Hole"

The demise of TV as a news source is not related to the Nix and football alone. News in General is shark. They would rather have some bimbo breathlessly "report from the scene of this breaking story" about how Lorde is decorating her Toilet
