Meanwhile, the Palestine football team had to default on their World Cup qualifiers because the Israeli border guards wouldn't let them out of their own country.

bugger, it's not as though they are travelling to anywhere anti palestine either, so does the default mean they lose 2 - 0 to Thailand, and then have to beat them by 3 or more on the 28th???

That's sad.

I watched a documentary a few years back of the Palestine team trying to qualify for the '06 WC.

FIFA should ban Israel for that.

If that was grounds for a ban FIFA would have banned us back in 07 over the Fijian goalkeeper. Critical_Lemon2011-07-14 17:07:46

I don't think this applies to the current cycle - they've already played (and knocked-out) Afghanistan, and have a game with Thailand coming up in about 10 days' time.

and not really playing as a striker then? Cause I see he's played there but also as a creative midfielder as well.

what was strange was that they dragged him at half time, at which stage it didn't look like he'd either 'done enough' or, played so poorly that they'd seen enough. Maybe he picked up an injury

Fuck this stupid game

Disappointed about the lack of mindless speculation on who this might be. Come on people. Throw some names out there. I guessing Dutch or Scandinavian leagues. Possible Italian. No idea who though.

Its no longer a problem.

28 year old European attacking midfielder, who scores lots of goals, is in a 1st division competition, and is still on contract. Anyone got any ideas??

He also speaks English which by making a very tenuous link between those Europeans most likely to speak English & those that aren't does point to the Dutch, Scandinavian or possibly German Leagues.

Nothing like a good bit of speculation to warm you up on a cold day.

If he is European born not just playing in European league Im thinking more eastern Europe..Poland, Lithuania or a Hungarian, Romanian, Bulgarian league.  Scandinavians would be very fluent in English and other lamguages...more #$^%$%^*& attacking midfielders..

Ricki confirms that Sanchez picked up a quad strain.

also a link- an agent who has brought other players to the league before. Usually agents in the A-League have many players they work for, not sure what the situation is like over there?

I would then look at the european imports we have had in the A-League so far. Van Dijk and Broich quickly spring to mind.

Is there anyway to find out player agents, and also the players they represent? A database of some sorts? If so that would be a great way to speculate.

As for now, I'm leaning towards the dutch or german leagues. Not sure if it would be the top leagues, but thats ok if they are of good pedigree

He says that the club doesn't matter but the league is good so gonna say maybe a team that has just been relegated in dutch/ budesliga. Just a hunch.

Thats going to send the train spotters checking relegated teams,as didnt Ricki say the player had an out clause and if thats the case relegation could be the trigger.Think i will just wait in anticipation.

ok carrying on my train of thought, i went to transfermarkt.co.uk and looked up van dijk and broich and found their agents page and all the players they represent here:
http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/michael-koppold/details/berater_672.html
http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/edwin-olde-riekerink/details/berater_427.html

So from there theres a few guys who could fit. I'd look at anyone listed as 27-29 because you never know how reliable sources are. I'd also look at guys listed anywhere between center midfielder and striker as again, you dont know how reliable sources are.

So from there, I've found a few who could possibly fit the bill:

http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/gregoor-van-dijk/leistungsdaten/spieler_4615.html
http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/juergen-schmid/leistungsdaten/spieler_5173.html

They dont exactly fit the bill, but using that process, by starting with players already in the league, could lead to some decent speculation

Unlikely? to be sick of Scotland already..

Manager Jim Jefferies has backed Mehdi Taouil to be a hit at Hearts after he became the club's fourth signing of the summer.

The 28-year-old attacking midfielder, a free agent after his contract at Clydesdale Bank Premier League rivals Kilmarnock expired at the end of last season, penned a three-year deal after successfully coming through a medical on Monday.

Jefferies brought the Moroccan to Rugby Park in 2007 during his spell as Killie boss and expects the player to make an impact with the Jambos.

"Hearts supporters like to see special talent and he has that in his locker," Jefferies told Hearts News. "It is a step up to a big club for him but if we can get him playing at his best, he is someone the fans will appreciate.

"He is something a little different to what we have and I'm confident he will be a good addition to the squad."

According to Hearts, Taouil had other offers on the table and Jefferies added: "He had a few options to join other clubs but I'm delighted to have got him."

Ricki specifically said it's a good league by Euro standards, which kind of rules out the SPL.
