Manager Jim Jefferies has backed Mehdi Taouil to be a hit at Hearts after he became the club's fourth signing of the summer.
The 28-year-old attacking midfielder, a free agent after his contract at Clydesdale Bank Premier League rivals Kilmarnock expired at the end of last season, penned a three-year deal after successfully coming through a medical on Monday.
Jefferies brought the Moroccan to Rugby Park in 2007 during his spell as Killie boss and expects the player to make an impact with the Jambos.
"Hearts supporters like to see special talent and he has that in his locker," Jefferies told Hearts News. "It is a step up to a big club for him but if we can get him playing at his best, he is someone the fans will appreciate.
"He is something a little different to what we have and I'm confident he will be a good addition to the squad."
According to Hearts, Taouil had other offers on the table and Jefferies added: "He had a few options to join other clubs but I'm delighted to have got him."
